Using the factory gearbox wiring\connectors, L\R motors plugged in to receiver. At this point does not matter if they are in the right slot or not. That will be tested later after 2s lipo input JST, power on switch wiring are completed.

If you buy replacement HL 1/24 gearbox, they come prewired and are set up for PNP for the HL Rx-24 receiver :D

Next I will be adding a Lipo input JST connector and wire it to the receiver.

JST input wire strain relief. Yanking on the JST during battery removal can damage the receiver RED battery input on the receiver. Thanks to the strain relief that is not a problem here.

Ends of the JST red\black wires get a 2.5 mm connector soldered on then plugged into the RED receiver input connector. This is a short high current run wiring technique. Allow maximum current flow from the lipo to the receiver.

red and black power on connector to SPDT switch. This can be light gauge wire because the heavy gauge wire has already been done through the JST connector wiring. This is just low power signal switching wiring. This setup is way more advanced than old school tanks from the past. All that power used to run through the on\off switch with long runs of wire.<br />The heavy power run is short and the switching on\off signal is a low power longer run.

I decided to put the tank in operation even though it still needs some work (main gun up\down, gun recoil, IR transmitter,receiver) are not finished at this point. Need to find a few parts yet. Just bid on a bunch of VsTanks parts here

Well I won the bid for the parts on ebay. $233 worth. $60 of that is shipping. Should have enough parts to ad main gun up\down plus recoil. Plus more parts for other projects. Several gearboxes for turret L\R and turret main gun U\D. Plus recoil gearbox's. IR LEDS and more.

No money left to buy those pretty panties at that site :O

Got the main gun recoil working as a stand alone using 1 SPDT relay. This will make it easy to interface to any electronics. I did this this way as I want to update 2 other 1/24 tanks in my collection with main gun recoil oh, and muzzle flash which is next.

For this upgrade, 4 wires are used with a SPDT relay with SPST switch, 2 for the recoil motor\GB, 2 for the recoil position limit switch.

This picture shows a 4 cell niMh battery for the power supply. 1 cell ~ 100mAh Lipo can also be used. 2s Lipo also works. So minimum 1s Lipo to 2s lipo can be used. The speed of the recoil function increases with more voltage.
