HL BB shooting unreliable

Post by KernelClinq »

HI folks,

Brand new M26. Fired half a dozen BBs just fine, but then it didn't. Based on research, I didn't bother with the factory orange BBs, opting instead for "Bulldog" brand 20g biodegradable BBs. So, anyway, after a while the tank got to where the gun would "wind up" and fire, but nothing came out. After several attempts to shoot it will either:
  • Wind-up, fire, and 2 or more BBs would just plop out
  • Not wind up and push a BB out the muzzle
  • Wind up and do nothing
  • Not wind up, and fire a BB
  • Wind up & "fire", but not expel the BB for a second or two afterward
To troubleshoot, I did open the box/bag of OEM orange BBs (and yes, they are garbage at first glance). Tried a few of the better ones and observed basically the same behavior as described above.

Is this common? Any thoughts on remediation?

What (if any) is the protocol for clearing bore obstructions and ensuring the chamber is empty?

All the best,

I have had some dry fires. But it's very infrequent.

Try some of the HL provided BBs. See what happens.
Or maybe feed em one at a time.

Did you extend the cannon? If yes, you may need to
realign it.

:) Hello,
As mentioned in the previous message, have you done anything unusual (mishandling) with the barrel? On the barrel (the part not visible), there's a small hole at the end that creates a vacuum, then a small rubber piston, and a large spring that compresses. Perhaps there's a problem? To check, you need to open the mechanism (carefully!!!). Be careful with the spring, as it tends to come loose easily. Have you visually inspected the inside of the barrel? When unloaded? Does everything work normally? In principle, when firing a blank, you should feel a slight jet of air at the end.
