Married my wife in 1965’in a driving snow storm in Minn.
That summer bought ourself a 60 Pontiac Catalina convertible
This ain’t her but it’s a dead ringer,the one car i sold I wished I could get back...kick myself in the ass to this day!!Image

Unfortunately not’ would love to attempt to at least look her up.... though if it remained in Minn. I’m sure weather rust and rot claimed her yrs ago.

Pontiac had the best records of any car company, if you had the VIN# I'm sure you could trace it and see what happened to it.

Ahh...the memories of vehicles past.

I was never a car guy...2 wheels for me. I think about hte bikes I owned and hte stupid money they fetch now, and it kind of makes me sad. Kind of....because I got to use them like they were meant to be used, not like an investment portfolio. Sad...because they are now too expensive to buy and use.

I mean...I paid £1500 for a Suzuki Katana 1100. Sold it ten years ago for £2500 ..... and now they go for £8000 in a mess and £12000 for a pristine example. My Guzzi Lemans cost me £2500 20 years back. £6000 now if you can find one.

I ran across the first bike I ever owned in a bike dealers a few years back. Red Kawasaki AR50 sports moped. I was 16, and it was the best thing in the world. I was sorely tempted to buy it to restore....but...you can never go back. The memories will always be better then the reality.

But...that does look like a neat car. Back in the days when US cars had a style all their own. Before all the world thought cars should look like jelly-moulds.

Jelly molds! I like that and sooo very true, that was a time when you could tell the make model and year of a car at a glance,not anymore...they’re all basically identical today with slightly different grills and rearends. Just little Kleenex box’s on wheels so sad! :thumbdown:

Yup..got her used. Was an import from Italy with 23000Kms on the clock. Needed a tidy up, but was a runner. 15 years ago when I bought her, they were interesting old bikes...but not seen as 'collectors items' like now. The seller was building his own house and needed to raise some cash to cover work.
Was a big old beast, and a bit of a stretch for me to the bars ( I'm only 5'9" and it's a loooong petrol tank :) I sold it as I don't have a garage....and had picked up an SV1000 for riding to work.

Planning on picking up a project 80's bike to restore/mod so I have something to tinker with. My daily ride to work 900 Hornet is too nice to mess with!

I started out on runabout Lambretta's. I used to buy them for around £5-10, then take them to the local tip when they broke down. They are now fetching around £3k??

Many of the bikes that I bought new ten years ago are now going for the same prices in dealers, with rust and high mileages as a not so optional extra. My guess is if you keep a bike for ten years you won't lose any money on it.

I also find it interesting that some bikes that were slated when they came out as new in the 70's and that no one wanted, are now appreciating classics commanding silly prices??
