GAZ 34 USSR Prototype 6x6

Heng Long/WPL are now manufacturing 1/16 scale RC trucks, so it seemed sensible to create a forum area dedicated to the amazing things that members are doing with them. Post your builds, mods, and tips here.

Still got electrics to do, but have done a first test this afternoon. Got a bit of gear slippage which means the gear mesh needs a little looking at. But i well impressed with this build so far

Thanks Pete.

First cushion crawler test failed!
Rear driveshaft slipped its spline. Now need to repair or replace and load her up again. Whoops!
Until that point wow the pulling power is great.
I used the kit motor which is longer than standard coupled to 20a esc and 2s 1000mah lipo almost flat. The brunt us unbelievable.

Need to make some lights aswell.

Also glad I have now glued the tyres as the kit tyres are very soft and shed from the rims easily. Not anymore

Snow trials. It worked great for a while until.the spline in the bevel.gear stripped on the shaft! Need to beef the drivetrain up on this thing!

Well impressed it worked soo well until.then however.

With WPL axles you can unscrew the back plate and buy a separate input plate and gear. Then modify either plate front or back so.you can still.use original.screws. Then you have drive through axle.

You also have to shorten the drive shaft so that you don't have the two axles spaced too far apart.
Both axles need to be rotated opposite ways so They both turn in same direction

The issue however is that it loads the centre axle hard which means the axle cannot do off road or high torque work. Ok for working on flattish surfaces.
I am going to try and do same.thing with the metal.axles available
