Years ago, a friend bought a 'budget' tin opener from a boot sale, and was very pleased with her 'bargain' purchase. But when I tried it on a can..it bent right out of shape as if it were chromium plated rubber, and had maybe come from a local joke shop.

I'm afraid that some of these Chinese produced artefacts look superficially impressive, but lack any real substance; a bit like having a deckchair made out of Balsa wood. (Yep..I know... it's technically a 'Hardwood'.

Can anyone recommend motors/gears that are not off the shelves of the local amusement shop? Being served horse as beef was one thing, but plated white metal as expensive stainless steel quite another...

Who makes the best quality gearboxes?
Whatever brand they may be, they have to be better than these:
