These guys are fantastic.... for US buyers who are interested in the HENG LONG tanks....in the contiguous 48 states in most cases the shipping is free... Here where I am I usually have to pay a little more... but with that said... they ship fast.. and I have never had to wait beyond the stated arrival time... and in most cases they arrive sooner :D

And right now they have the T34 that Phil and I purchased for a lot less

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-4Ghz-Radio-RC ... 3cd7c2752b

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-4Ghz-Radio-RC ... 3a86703126

I paid 250 for that same model from "SHADY" HOBBY RAW

They also have the Full metal version (sorry the auction must have ended for that one so will have to wait till they relist it)..for about a hundred dollars less than "SHADY HOBBY RAW "

They are outstanding EBAY sellers... as their service and communications are top notch
So remember their tag MIDEATECH :D

Hey Alpha,

I am afraid to ask what colour this one is going to end up. Good thing you make your own crew as it looks like you get the standard HL Panzer crewman! :haha:

I picked one of these up here in Canada. Haven't opened the box yet. Got it from immortalhobbies.com for a little less than this listing

It will be my 3rd T-34/85 the other 2 being WSN but gutted with Clarks and servo recoil. Will be doing the same to this one! :D

Not to worry dgsselkirk...this one will be more normal :haha: as most of the teams were rather traditional aside from OARAI ...so it'll be white. Snow camo...with the PRAVDA insignia .....the hatch needed modification ... as the one in the anime sports the ones featured on the WSNs..pretty easy.. as I already did it on the one I have already...along with the mod that Phil came up with for the road wheels

The one I got from "SHADY" HOBBY RAW didn't come with a commander... did yours? 8O ...the one on the ebay listing looks new and improved.. as it might come with a figure... and the chassis height looks almost normal

I didn't order one... since I have one already... but MIDEATECH...is sure offering them a lot lower than most so far

I also have to admit... the HENG LONG isn't as pretty as the WSN detail wise ... but I lke it much better ...in a way they were smart... the left the detail parts off ... and some the simplified because of the location.. like the engine access hatch on the butt of the tank.... I broke that off quickly... and just from picking it up

You must have did a lot of detail work on yours...as I felt the WSN required it
I just posted the EBAY listing because I saw there was some interest in that tank

It kind of urks me that I had to pay almost a hundred dollars more though

These are the listings for the full metal versions I spoke of ...one is a regular price the other is an auction

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-4Ghz-Radio-Co ... 3cd7bec527
and I was wrong.... it's still jacked :O
Darn it... I should have waited  ...I could have got full metal...

Honestly I haven't even cracked the box been so busy but it will be a laugh if it does come with the German! The mods I will be doing right away:

Gut the inside totally for more space and resin fill lower hull for stability

replace all the grills on the upper hull

I think Panther black steel gearboxes will fit.

Upgrade to Clark board

Full servo recoil

bigger speaker in a sound box

I'm thinking to try it with plastic sprockets and tracks first. I have heard that putting metal on doesn't help because you really have no teeth on the drive sprocket to grab so throwing more weight on them just causes more slipping and worse performance on inclines than with the plastic.

Phils fix to match height and track lay with my WSN's... more realistic

And of course paint and detailing. HL did a different model of turret than WSN so that will make it a nice addition to my fleet.

I will let you know tonight on the figure. About time I opened it up...

Oh and by the way here is your cry :'( :'( :'(

:haha: ..... Mine has been on the workbench for the past month ...like everyone else... the timing of it's arrival (literally it was shipped on the slow boat from CHINA) clashed with other projects...not to mention how much of a hassle the T34 was to get....took some of the excitement out of the tank....so basically I tested it... and let it sit....I thank the RC tank gods for Phil.... as a few days later he posted the suspension mod...a little life breathed into the tank ... I took it apart and did the mod...and that's when I got lucky... as I found mine had metal gears.... not the high end blacks .... but still something I didn't expect
The plastic tracks are terrible IMO  ...as they have no traction at all....even with the metal gearboxes .... they would slip and slide ...thus relegating it back to the workbench.... while I waited for metal tracks to arrive...ordered these..
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tank-Track-Meta ... 5ae32bdfd4
It has a much more robust "mark" on the links...but I could only install one side.... as they were too short...the seller is sending me another set of spare links ... so I can put the other side on and take it for a test run...so once again it sits... back on the workbench... In some ways I am unenthused about it because I have had so many problems with it ...hopefully ... when the spare links arrive I will have regained the drive to work on it again
It's a great looking tank...not as refined detail wise as the WSN...but that's all good...as I like the durability factor over the WSN...not to mention the better gearboxes
I am tempted to exchange the road wheels with the WSN as those have rubber...but it's not something I put a priority on
the main concern for me was the hatch... it opened... but totally wrong for what I am doing

I'll post later to tell you about the tracks... I think they will work much better than the HENG LONGs.... with that said... I'm not even sure of the traction factor of the metal HENG LONG tracks ....because if they come from a similar mold as the plastic ones... they will be just as flat .. and just as slippery...so far ... that's the biggest problem with it... the traction

Have a great HALLOWEEN Dgsselkirk

Verlinden for me. Not a great scratch builder of figures! :{

I will be interested to hear about the metal for sure. I will be gutting the lower hull and installing a heavy (relatively) metal plate in the base like I did on the WSN's that seemed to help. They run pretty good on our club battlefield (See first 2 pictures below of my winter T-34/85 layout) The way I did it was gut the hull, put in styrene to protect the suspensions, pour in thin layer of resin, add metal plate when this was dry and then another layer of resin. This is the insulation for electronics from the metal plate. I didn't look to see if I had metal gearboxes as I have a set of Panthers that should fit. Will have to look. B|

Also here is my spring T-34/85 to show you before metal plate was laid in but with Clark test fitted. Also just for fun a shot of my grill replacement. :D

If you built as many garage kits as I have... you'd be good at it lol....just like if I had built as many RC tanks as you ... I would be good.. unfortunately.. I'm still lacking in many aspects of the hobby
I can see reinforcing the hull of the WSN... not sure about the HENG LONG... I thought the hull was very strong....especially with my run in with a pouncing
PANTHER :haha: ...The WSN would have never survived that metal or no ...I do like the turret better... but for me ..it isn't worth the trouble to make the change...just because I like the strength and gauge of the plastic HENG LONG uses...I actually feel it is stronger than Tamiya
I like what you've done with yours... though the one thing I notice about the WSNs.... is that there isn't a really good solution to the plastic final drive gear

I'll probably work on my HENG LONG after I finish my ERWIN figure...hopefully the spare track set will arrive by then so I can test run it before starting work on it...though I'm not sure what the effects will be running metal tracks on plastic drivers ... the idlers should stand up ok...
it's just those RUSSIAN style of drive sprocket
