Discuss the good old Heng Long electronics here, whether its mods on them or anything else, it goes here!

Good stuff. Just to correct myself, I didn't take out all the Airsoft units, only the ones that doesn't need recoil/elevation. I still need the unit for the elevation mount etc, but no more motor sound prior to firing. On the Taigen side, the double firing is not even that obvious. I actually have to make an effort to cause it to double fire. If I just flick it up like normal it just fire properly. The only thing is that I noticed on my KT, there is a squeaking sound after I install the diode solution as part of the recoil from the motor. No big deal but I wonder what the effect would be with different diodes although I think 4007 is the highest one in the series.

Also just to clarify, you only need one diode, either underneath the board inside the case or externally, correct ? I know the pin mapping is the same for Taigen and RX-18 so I know the external part will work for Taigen. I know the board is different if I take the case apart although I can still just count pins. I personally would mod it externally so that there is a reminder that it is a "special" MFU......

Great tip BTW. Now I can get rid of the Airsoft units in couple of my tanks.
Sorry for the confusion Michael, I should have post the picture showing the bottom part of the board only...
You need only 1 diode for the mod. and I know , from experience; that it works really good with the Asiatam recoil system....
I was using that mod. with the 2 RX-18 boards to cancel the track recoil on my tanks...

Interesting thread this.

Have just bought a Taigen high intensity flash unit and was wondering how to trigger it. From what I can deduce the small two male pin connector on the Taigen unit (one white and one yellow wire) needs to connect to a switch to trigger the flash. Best guess is I need to install a relay to trigger the flash?

Sorry if I am being a bit thick but I cannot think of another way of doing it.

cupoftea, the two male pin connectors from the high intensity flash unit need to be connected to the trigger switch on your BB/Recoil. Otherwise, you can just use the diode mod connecting the PIN 4 from CN3 (For RX-18) or PIN 5 from CN3 (For Taigen MFU) to PIN 4 on CN9 and you are good to go. The male 2 PIN connector doesn't need to be connected to anything. I had kept the whole spring loading recoil/BB just for the trigger before, but after the diode mod, the motor on the gun is disconnected and the 2 PIN trigger connector is not hook to anything anymore.

You still need to plug the 5 PIN from the flash unit to CN3, but I basically jump PIN 5 (I have Taigen) to PIN 4 on CN9 with the diode and that's it.

Thank you Michael.

I thought I was missing the point somehow. That has cleared it up for me.

Have now done the diode mod and the flash works a treat.

Many thanks for the help.

hi Ian,
Wonder if you can help me, I am trying to fit a flash unit to an empty barrel, no BB or Ir unit and get it to trigger from The HL RX18, I found the post about Diode trigger flash but the link explaining it is long gone. Do you have the wiring diagram info or pictures to show how it is done, can you send it to me or post it up for everyone please?
Cheers
Dan

Hi Scalawag,

I've found the instruction (from the link) in email format. If you still need them PM me your email and I can send across. But it is basically as strmnd54 has posted.

Hi Dan,

I'll have a look to see if I've still got it.
