HL + Tamiya conversion, and I guess this is now a "Hemiya" Sherman and painted as a Mediterranean Theater of Operations Sherman M4A3W 75mm.

My problem with scale model "weathering" is that there are some days when you look at the tank and think why the heck did I do that to it!



Lately, I have not been weathering all my builds (mostly ones that are intended for backyard play). This model was built to replace a moderately weathered Tamiya Sherman Easy 8 105mm shelf queen I never used and sold off.

Plus, I too enjoy the look of a factory fresh AFV. The un-weathered models are a little more popular than the weathered examples is my current model trends observation. As trendy as weathering is, there is a place for not weathering your rc tank build.

Anyway, not all WWII combat vehicles were dirty "beaters". Depends on where they were in their service life cycle when you took that war time snap shot of them. Though, most US Army ETO and MTO Shermans quickly got foul looking before they were knocked out.

Answers:

The 75mm parts set was $35.00 USD including postage from Texas to California. Not cheap, but not a deal breaker either.

Nick also offers very nice quality Sherman 76mm tank and Sherman M36B1 tank destroyer resin parts sets plus a Sherman cast hull & transmission cover and other various small parts.

I used their Dry Transfers rub down type sealed on both Shermans with several very light layers of Testors Dullcote.

If you have graphics software just make your "type art" in inDesign and email them a pdf.

No graphics software, then on an email page or in MS Word set the "sized" type (to fit the model) and step and repeat the words a dozen times on the page to have spares.

This becomes the Dry Transfer "art work". I emailed the "art" to "get stencils" with my color call out = white.

The emitter is on the barrel now because the LED is to big to fit inside the scale 75mm barrel, so much for careful planning.
