Hello.. I have a few questions about building the Tamiya Sherman and upgrades. I kind of have a plan but since I am new with tanks, I just would like some quick questions answered. I think this is the right place.
I want to acquire all my parts before I begin the process. What are the must have upgrades ? Any specific parts to steer away from? Like, should I get The Impact or Kenny's tracks? Read that the Kenny tracks are easy to service and people seem to like them. Etc.. thanks for any assistance..
My part list right now is..
The Tamiya kit
Daryl's idler upgrade
Daryl's screws
Ball bearings
Impact transmission w/ DDG installed
Kenny's T66 tracks
Nicks E8 76mm conversion

Re: Tamiya Sherman build questions
If we knew where you were in the world it would make it easier to help, What I will say is right now where you buy your upgrades is at least as important as what you upgrade, If you go to the recommended vendors site you will find dealers from all over the world, all of them trustworthy and able to offer advice, if you go to the blacklisted site you will have the chance to be ripped off and generally treated badly!!! shaun

Re: Tamiya Sherman build questions
Forgive me Matt I have just seen that you are from New Jersey, well there are a number of quality dealers in your area and as the United States is the birthplace of the Sherman you may get buried in helpful advice, good luck. shaun
I think I am about to upset someone

Reference:
The Tamiya kit
Daryl's idler upgrade
Daryl's screws
Ball bearings
Impact transmission w/ DDG installed
Kenny's T66 tracks
Nicks E8 76mm conversion
Recommended additions for your Tamiya Sherman Kit List:
1. Daryl's gearbox mount brace, DPE06: http://www.etoarmour.com/products.php?ViewCategory=11
2. Two cent tip:
Skip the Impact gear boxes, no need for a Sherman.
Instead get from ETO the M02, two powerful black long can motors for the Tamiya transmissions.
Much more torque and power for your tank, keeps power up better in combat. Fits all Tamiya tanks except Leopard 2A6.
Bolts directly on to transmission in place of the stock motors.
Dimensions: 27,7mm wide x 51,0mm long.
Shaft size: 2.3mm.
Sold as a pair only (look towards the bottom of the page): http://www.etoarmour.com/products.php?ViewCategory=10
3. For your new motors get the Impact 8 Tooth Pinion gears (2): http://mitosal.com/M4Sherman.html
4. Remove and CA Glue the clutch gears solid for the rotation unit and the elevation unit and re-install in reverse order after the glue dries hard.
5. Check out ETO for your T66 tracks, they ship from NJ and they are an excellent vendor: http://www.etoarmour.com/product_detail ... tID=KKT005
Have fun and these are the same parts that I used for the Tamiya Sherman below, a very strong runner.
Enjoy, John
