I've long time thought about, if I exchange the rear turret hatch from Tamiya against the WeCoHe kit and what should I say; I've decided me for the WeCoHe kit.
However, I want to have the possibility to drive with opened or closed hatch. That means that the hatch must be rebuilt so that she can be opened and closed from outside.
A screw with inside square in this scale is probably not possible, but a hexagon screw can be used; but all in the right sequence.
I began to cut the original hatch out, for the rough I've used my fretsaw and reworked with my Dremel with a milling cutter. After that were followed filing and sanding. The turret looked then like this.
…and so from inside
It continued with the assembly of the hatch. By the way, the kit is as usual from WeCoHe high quality and good to work with.
For the possibility to close the hatch, have I outside, there where the inside square is, a bit deeper milled. After this I've drilled through the hatch and through the whole lock bolt with a 0.8 mm driller. Then I've cut in the lock bolt a thread M1. At mounting I've used two little self-made washers and the M1 bolt screwed and glued into the lock bolt. The remaining parts I've mounted without modifications according to plan. Now can I open the hatch from outside with a little socket wrench.
Here now the corresponding pictures.
After this was the hinge mounted inside and outside the holder for the hatch holding hook, everything with M1 bolts. Inside I've glued two pieces PE-plate of 0.5 mm thickness, therewith the hatch not clatters when she is closed.
fitting:
In the hinge for the hatch I've cut a thread M 1.2; so it's possible to remove the hatch.
In conclusion then for the detailing around the hatch all the necessary welds was attached. But unfortunately no pictures taken...
