Hi greengiant,
I love the diorama. Please can I ask if you have plans to make any for sale..???..Probably too much money for me...but its always worth asking...Other members may well be interested in buying them as well. Much better to display a tank on than just a shelf. .......and you are clearly very good at making the dioramas.

Ive thought of making some basic diomas bases and selling them but the size and components would make shipping a nightmare.
All the bases start out as a simple cheap hollow core kitchen cabinet door> To this is glued a very tight weave carpet scrape that is spray painted dark brown. Than for a plain flat surface various colored ground cover can be spinkled on but not glued down. The first layer that is dirt colored or real fine dirt, ground cover is put on in different thickneses to represent folds in the landscape. If you want to have really deep folds or hills glue on more layers of the carpet first to pbtain the basic contours you want before applying the dirt layer. Large trees are scewed to the base from the underside if the cabinet door small trees are put into holes pushed through the top of the of partially complete base. The trees range from real wood dead branch peices cut to size ( i have a large silver maple in my backyard that is always shedding small dead branches) to plastic branches from a fake potted fica tree that I found thown out. The taller grasses are made from green colored plastic brooms and fake grass bought at a local store that sells stuff to make flower arrangements. The parts with leaves are also from this source.
Back to the basic base. After you have the "ground" contoured the way you want it sprinckle on whatever color green short grass you want. Next actually drive your tank onto the dioama, much like a real tank driving it in a sraight line will result little change to the loose surface materials but a turn will tear up the loose material and shove it aside exposing the dirt under the green grass and making the mounded up lumps of dirt and grass you see when a real tank turns.
If you want to keep what you have created remove the tank and spray a white glue and water mixture onto the surface a little at a time giving it a chance to soak in without without moving the ground and grass. Do this untill it is soaked all the way through and let it dry for a day are two. Then you can put your tank back in its position on the base and gue any added bushes fallen branches ect anto the dioama.
I actually have only three that Ive glued down of the 6 I've built. The rest are a narrow street scene that is all plaster gued to the door and the rest have a layer of soft foam rubber crudly cut and glued to the door, painted brown, to which I add the dirt, grass and other items. The foam sinks in from the weight of the tanl being driven onto it making a much more realistic look. I then can take my pictures sweep the ground cover into a container mix it together and add some thinned dark brown water based latex paint to it mix it up enough that its all brown that can be reused on the foam coved door making it look completely different.
Almost all my tanks are stored in an old store display case to keep the dust from them. When I get tired of seeing the ones on the dioamas that are perminent I can just switch them out with those in storage.
