Good work EX PAT
I will pass that info onto the guy I know who has been doing some testing! And he was using a huge Sea horse, so it is definately using a conventional RC Helio!

Re: battle units
I realise this is now moving outside of the relm of boats, but I'll post it here to keep the tread together:
I found this RC chopper online tonight for $200:
http://www.robotmarketplace.com/product ... H1250.html
from the manual it looks like it has a spektrum based 2.4GHz system with the 5th channel being free (check out the note on the rotary Pot on the top of the Tx)
http://www.robotmarketplace.com/product ... Manual.pdf
I've asked Nick if it was possible that I could replace the pot with a "push to make" switch to trigger his IR firing circuit - of course I'm a complete 'numpty when it comes to electronics so I may well be smoking crack here....
I'm also not clear if the ESC's aren't tightly integrated into the motor control board like a HL tank - this may also confuse things.
Anybody who knows more about this than me (and that isn't going to be difficult) should take a looksie and let me know - to a total Heli noob this looks like an amazing oppotunity to create the worlds first IR tank combat attack helicopter...?
Merry Christmas to one and all by the way!!!
