Tiger I metal gear slips off idler track

Post by davetola »

Hi all!
My HL Tiger has metal tracks and it constantly slips off the idler wheel. I have removed a link but it still slips!
Any ideas
Thanks

I had the same problem, I found some 5mm x 45 shoulder bolts washers and nuts, cut-off the protruding nub on the tank body, drilled a 4.5mm hole through the tank body. then i made a washer the width of the distance i moved my idlers out from the body with the old plastic idlers I had.put a screw through the metal idler then my homemade washer, nut then another nut on the inside of the tank. problem solved and the idler runs in the correct spot between the track teeth and not on top of the inside of the track tooth.
I know bad instructions but look at the pic below. that should explain it all. I can do speed spins on grass and not lose a track now by the way.

Hi Davetola,

Usual suspect is the standard idler wheel bocomes too wobbly or mis-alighed road wheels. Another problem is the surface your running the tank on I find paving slabs are fine but stuff with greater friction grass and carpets will only contribute to pulling them off.

I have two tigers and gone different routes on both.

First one using pretty much standard HL. But filed done some of the plastic road wheels shafts to help alignment but main thing is I replaced the idler wheels with metal ones with a 4mm axle hole (from Welsh Dragon Models http://www.welshdragonmodels.co.uk/asia ... -674-p.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and then used long 4mm bolts.

This gives a good result. It will still occasionally half come off when the grass is longer but generally ok.

Second tank on paper should be better but having more prroblems  Using Asiatam metal hull with better suspension and alignment metal idler wheels with tensioners etc.

Hope that helps, If not just ask as I think it is one of the most common problems people have had.
