Riviting time ! panzer iv AUSF ' E ' vorpanzer

Post by mcevoyi »

hi all

i not realy said much about this build ... i hope the pics say it all ....

but i think i have to say a little about what i been getting up to ..... i have a riviting time in the last few days ... i spent way too many hours .. punching out 1/2mm ...1mm and 1.5mm rivits ...i think almost 350 .. and dont i know it ...her in doors reminded me a few times about he banging ....

i done a pile of pics showing the next stage of the build .. 11 but thats too may yo upload ...as it would take far too long for you all to look at .....so what i have done is put up a few that show the rivits the HL missed out ....ones that i feel are important ...

some of the rivits on the hull extra plateing are not visable .. as there white on white .... but when painted up you will be able to se them....

i have to say .. dispite the fact that hl pre moulded the tools to the fenders .. with a bit of work there not too bad ... i hope that maybe one day hl upgrade the panzer iv ..and the tools would be removed .... that would make a huge diference to the tank .... and the pz3 too ....

i have actualy started to paint the Pz iv .. just an undercoat of redbrown primer .. i hope to pop some pics up later ... but for now ... just in the bear skin .. so you can se what i have been getting up to ....

oh and did some welding too

hope the pics come out .... as there always cut to fit this site ......

gosh .. enought yapping

pic time !

Hi mcevoyi,
This is shaping up into a really nice Panzer IV.....I am going to have to lok up the stats on this tank to check out its armour thickness as it looks pretty substantial

What can I say absolutely fantastic mate , one of the best Pz.IVs Ive seen this year . Are you going to raise the drive sprocket and lower the rear return rollers ? As HL have put the drive sprocket to high and the return rollers all the same height , the rear one on each side should be lower . Even if you dont its a master piece mate. Here is my Jagpanzer IV L70 although it has the later three return rollers the rear one is lower than the others. And you can see the raised drive sprocket .

hi there Andy

i wanted to change the height of the drive sprocket ... but the problem is the stepped gunners / drivers front plate
it fouls the gearbox .. even a low profile stug box ///

and the retuen roller at the back has been lowered bt 4.5 ish mm ...

i will put some more pics up later .... done the first part of the paint job today ....

Hi mate I put mato low profile gears in my HL Pz.IV conversion to the Jagdpanzer there very low .Im going to need a set for my Stug IV conversion to . The HL Stug ones are not low enough for my Jagdpanzer IV L70 or the Stug IV . Im guessing the Mato ones will be ok in your Pz.IV . Which by the way is excelent mate . Another thing I did which wasnt my idea was put the slope in the rear deck . And add the rear vent grill covering plates . Still need to the catches etc in this pict. The horizontal bars are only found on the the flak versions , this is my Ostwind project.
