I just joined the forum a few days ago, and have a few questions that I have not came across as of yet (I'm only in the 30's of the gen questions threads). I've been modeling now off and on for about 25-30 yrs, and am partial to german armor. I've been into rc for about 20 and love scale RC. I am still up in the air on whether or not to order all the tanks I plan to get and then upgrade one at a time or go for the couple here and there and get all the detail stuff for those at once. I recently lost the spot that I flew and raced due to my mother-in-law selling her farm, so tanks will be my main "new" pass time.I plan on going the HL route for starters and plan on ordering a PantherG and JadgPanther and maybe a Tiger I to start in the next week or so.
The main questions I have are:
1.- Will the Late Tiger I steel wheels work on a HL Pather G, as well as the narrow F turret kit?
2.- What do I need to lookout for when ordering from the UK and Germany? I know it can be a bear to send from here (states) to Europe at times.. But the majority of detail parts seem to be by you guys
As you can tell I am Panther fan..... :~
Thanks in advance,
Jay

Re: Starter questions....
First of all welcome, The question about the Tiger late model wheels, they can work but are they the right wheels? No As for the Panther and Jagdpanther those two have the same lower hull including all the running gear, their are metal wheel kits for those as well.
Here is a Panther link that is packed with information, and as far as buying from the UK,check out the recommended venders section you will find several venders that are members as well. Welcome and please ask if your unsure about purchasing upgraded part.

Re: Starter questions....
saxondog, thank you very much for the link and the welcome..
fynsdad, you are correct.. I have seen the prototypes with both styles of road wheels, but like the steel wheels better. But whether or not the turret would work with the HL hull and IR/recoil systems ect.. is my concern in doing one up..

it may-be a bit cramped in the turret for all the motors etc

Hahahaha I even searched for that stuff. Thanks for the link!.. Guess I may have to ponder it further. Maybe a ElMod/standard radio and some micro servos would be the ticket? Maybe Pz III or IV stuff??

Re: Starter questions....
This is my Porsche turret layout,it was designed by another member named Bubbajoe. It is cramped but works, the ring gear is mounted in the lower hull, the small gearboxes are from Tamiya's learning mechanical line of products, they can be built in 5 ratio's and work very well for rotation but the best part is the turret will lift off in any position,
Thought maybe this would give you some idea's concerning your Panther II Build. If you keep the standard rotation the recoil mounting saves space as does the elevation gearbox. The pivot can be made from Brass tubing and the King Tiger inner turret pivot assembly.then the recoil can mount forward leaving you turret room behind it,recoil at best is less than 30mm so this arrangement does save space and works very well.

Re: Starter questions....
Saxondog, I will keep in touch with you on that..
Well I ordered the Panther today and for grinnies I had him toss in a Tiger 1 also. He's out of the F turrets until sometime in June, so we will see come then. Till then I'll be grabbing parts and maybe a jadgpather and a Pz IV in the next few weeks
