I have an Asiatam metal chassis, and bought some Mato idlers with bearings.
I spent a couple of days looking for M4 Stepped bolt, then decided to go a different way.
The problem was the bearings, the inner diameter is 5mm,which is why you need a stepped bolt, get the same size outer, with a smaller size inner (4mm),and your problem is solved.
I went to my bits box,and found a Tamiya bearing for one of my old rock crawlers had the same outer diameter but, inner diameter is 4mm,problem solved, steel allen bolt,no problems.
If anyone has the same problem, the Tamiya part number is 9805672 ( bearing BK3 for a Tamiya TLT).

So do you think these will fit the asiatam tensioner without modification, or will I need to change something? wish the tensioners would arrive..........

No,you have a self tapping stepped screw, and the Asiatam tensioner requires an M4 thread.nicktank wrote:So do you think these will fit the asiatam tensioner without modification, or will I need to change something? wish the tensioners would arrive..........
You can try to buy some M4 threaded stepped screws,or do what I did and use an alternative bearing in the idler to enable you to use a standard M4 bolt.
They have these bearings on ebay for about £6 for 2 (you need 4 bearings),not bad when you consider they are about £14 for 2 from official dealers.
Alternatively, take the existing bearing,to a model shop,or bearing factors, see if they can match the outer diameter, with an inner diameter of 4mm.
Hope that helps

well the sprockets and idlers came with the track, but it may be easier and cheaper then to just get new asiatam idlers as i c they are about 10 euros then it's solved. Will try and find a cheap solution first of course!! thanks for the help
