Battery wire

Hi Dave
Thanks Mate, I will give it a hour charge that should take
the reading of 7.61 to around 8.50 ( full charge ) this is on the tests
to check battery readings, if its not given a higher reading the I will bin it.

You will get a reading if the cable is touching, with the meter there is no load to speak of. The test is when you draw a reasonable load, it may work for a while but as I said before, if you can't make a solid (soldered or crimped) connection, then I would advise that you scrap the battery.

The reading went from 7,61 to 8.45 after a one hour charge, when I do a reading I test,
I do it at the Negative and positve terminals at the connector, I set the meter to Batt 9v, put the red
tester rod on to the red Pos coming off the batt and the black testing rod on to the black Neg coming
off the battery. Am I correct then in saying there is a current going through the battery pack.

I know I'm going on a bit but thats the idea of having a hobby and being part of this forum, its not just about
throwing some thing away its about see'ing if it can be fixed, you guys have been great with all your help

Right you are Gerwyn, and remember their are no dumb questions here(except mine) what I mean is simple we all have different skills, and even then at different levels. What make this forum stand apart is the acceptance of this fact. People are comfortable asking questions here because of the understanding of the members.

Two years ago I had never built a tank in my life, So I asked many questions, this forum was the one place I received answers and help, not answers and EGO. So I stayed here, and it has been a learning experience and fun.

So understanding this, the best thing to do is ask questions as out of the hundreds of members someone will have the right answer. Always better to save money by repair instead of replace. And for some reason fixing a broken part FEELS better than opening our wallets. cheers Sax

Gerwyn,
You are getting "Voltage" from the battery, which means the red and black wires are touching the right places. Current (amps) are only drawn through the battery when a load (watts) is connected, the meter your using (or any meter) is not a significant load so will not put any stress on the connections. The test will be when you connect a proper load. I assume its for a tank, so try connecting it up with the tank on blocks or something and the battery outside the tank where you can monitor it. Run the tank at full throttle and turn on everything else you would normally use, smoker etc, fire the main gun, give it a good run while keeping an eye on the battery, if it holds up for more than 10-15 minutes then you have brobably cracked it
But nothing is certain, it may fail again once in the tank and the vibration of running gets to the connections.

I prefer to be safe with electrics now. Having burnt out my Elmod I think it's not worth the risk. Is it just a standard 7.2v Heng long battery?

Give the battery a test before fitting to the tank got a reading of 8.03 as this tank as no smoke or fires shot, I run it for a good twenty minutes whilst driving I kept the turret and the barrel moving, this was done on the carpet as it’s snowing out side,
“ Hi Sax yes its snowing “ after the test run I retested the battery and got a reading of 7.34, the only problem I know of was fitting the battery into the tank space as the wire held with the glue does not bend as easily as the one without.
Refitted the battery for one more go battery went in better this time and the tank running OK “ so far “. Thank you for your patient in helping me with this problem and you other guys for your help.
