Correct scaled weight

Hello

What would be a "correct" scaled weight of a 1/16 scale model of a Tiger tank?

It is clear that the scale for the weight is not linear and you should not expect the 1/16 model of a 57 ton tank to weigh 3.56 tons.

More likely the scale must be cubed, so 57 tons must be divided by 16^3=409

This gives us a "correct" scaled weight of 13.91 kg, which does sound right

What do you think - is this correct?

I think thats about right as 1/16 scale isn't the same as 1:16th scale.

Which means a tad under 31lbs(30.602 to be exact).

You wouldn't like to drop it on your big toe would you.

I'm at about 20.8lbs,this was achieved by several things but mainly due to wheel weights with adhesive backing placed in different location in my tank.It has a positive effect on my Tiger,it move better over objects the control arms moving first instead of the hull just riding over the object.The Asiatam hull had very stiff springs originally,causing my Tank to ride high,but progressive additions like tracks,metal sprockets,heavier gun turret with metal barrel.and a few other metal parts still left me with a rigid movement.The added automotive wheel weights was the answer,they are easy to place and once in position are very difficult to remove.These can be purchased from Harbor Freight for a few dollars depending on the oz.rating.Also they help my turret to be more stable as they cause the turret to rest on the turret ring eliminating bounce effect of my Tamiya barrel which due to being airsoft is a bit longer than scale.They work well under the fenders inside the tank over the tracks.

One other note,the scale weight of 30lbs would be to much for the Asiatam hull torsion spring.I leave my tank setting on the Exacto knife box which allows the control arm to rest in the full down position,they have lost some tension due to the weight,and driving like madd. Cheers Blake

Great idea. I just need to figure out where to get them here in UK

Does anyone know how much weight metal wheels will add if I buy them?

Ideally I want full metal lower hull - does anyone make them? That would be cool

what sort of gearbox/motors do you have to pull all this weight around?

I bet the tank has so much traction, you would not be able to stop it by hand.

And it probably is very sturdy when running - would love to see videos if there are any

Go to your local tyre and battery for the wheel weights.

As for the lower hull,Dave(forgebear on here)is doing them to order very soon,or if
you really can't wait,Asiatam do one and also metal early rubber rimmed or late steel rimmed
road wheels.

I have the best I could find.Asiatam lower metal hull,steel axles,metal tracks and sprockets,Graupner speed 400 motors with 12 tooth pinion driving the older steel Asiatam 3:1 gearbox,super fan cooled RX-18 WITH DUAL FANS elevated,3300mha battery.All contained in the Asiatam hull with a Creeping Death turret with modified Tamiya Barrel w/recoil and a VS airsoft gun.
