Yes I do recall our discussion about our families, and how badly I want to come to Germany,But the economy must improve first. I am very interested in tracing my fathers family history in Saxony. And just to travel around Germany, and to see the Baltic coast cities, and I very much want to travel to KIEL.Is their any indication of where the Scheer capsized and was buried? That has always been curious to me,that they just covered the ship over.Well keep up the good work on the CNC parts.I would like to discuss making some parts with you. Cheers Blake

The Pocket Battleship Adm.Scheer.Bombed and capsized next to it's dock in Kiel.after the end of the war they decided to bury the ship instead of scrapping the ship where it was.

Last Information I have is it is under a parking lot.Just curious about that piece of history. My main interest as far as hobbies were German Naval History, until last year when I started modeling tanks.

But the Kriegsmarines history is very interesting to me,and the Scheer had a very colorful service history in WWII.

As for parts, some framing for the inner hull of my 1/6 Tiger and a component tray similar to the tray in my Asiatam lower hull . Here is a photo of the 1/16 scale tray. cheers Blake

Moin

i found this
Image
and this:
When removing the shipyard facilities in debris and covered with sand and then covered up. The ship's bell is now in the Navy Museum in Wilhelmshaven.

thats means it is still there but now it is under the erth.
interestening, have hered about it but have forgoten.

you creating an 1/6 tiger?

April 1945 after several bomb hits the battlecruiser deutschland class capsized in Keil. The hull had been exploited by local businessman (mainly non-ferrous metals). With the dismantelling of the shipyard the debris and sand were collected and covered the ship. The ships Bell is now in a Marine Museum in Wilhelmshaven.

Yes a truly sad end to a proud ship, they also buried crew as well.Often wondered about the parking lot over the Scheer. My 1/6 scale Tiger VI is a steel hulled static tank I purchased from a shop in California. There are some post about it in the large scale section.I have just yesterday started working on it again. Here is a picture, Thanks for the information concerning Scheer. Here are some pictures of my scratch built Porsche Kit. New to this hull are the Driver/radio operators working hatch, radiator changed at the top, welding seams and a big hatch between the side radiators.Front road-wheel position changed slightly. The drive wheel could not be moved the 5mm distance that was required, the transmission gearing was an issue.

Now when needed their is a new Asiatam axle that when attached you can mount the Asiatam drive wheel

Unfortunately, this one had an little accident, my machine did not cut deap enough. So I have to cut it completely out using hand tools. That's why it looks a little uneven.

If someone is interested in this Porsche hull let me know,it will be less than the normal price for the Porsche hull kit.
