My New Panther G
Re: My New Panther G
In the spring of 45 to have a Gray Zimmerit covered Panther seems unique, and it raises the question of weather this was an older Panther that survived until the battles around Berlin or produced in Zimmerit and painted gray because of late war shortage of paint, did the Feb.1943 order to change base color from Gray to Tan apply to the panther as it did to the Tiger? I would have to break out the text books to answer that for you but as you can see in the pics the old unit numbers on the turret "125" have faded and the new ones "304" painted over them, so i would go with older Panther that survived.

That's a very good point,on the web site Panther 44 their are pictures of the factory pointing out certain things like base color, but your observation of the numbers does point to it being an older unit.Point well made Keith. Blake

Hi Keith ,
I have always thought the chined Panther Gs were not zimmerited as the order to stop it came in around the time of the chin being added. And Ive never seen any pictures or photos of a chined Panther G with zimmerit . Well done on finding the picture
. My Panther Gs just come from Dave and Im going against my own rule now and plan on making it into a real late possibley last model produced . But not decided 100% yet . Anyway you have done an excelent job on the Panther I realy like it . And the hand controler , very neat mate . Ive used one of Daves Panther G tops , well just the turret on my Pantiger build . I removed the late war features with the exception of the self defence weapon , but did take the chin of to as my Pantiger conversions the Ausf.A model.
