Re: 1/10th Stridsvagn 103C
Thank you,
I managed to get a test run in . I piled up the RC gear in the hull a very shoddy way but okay for a test run. It almost worked. The gear boxes I have are not upto the job forwards & backwards okay, but far too fast. Turning is a different matter. On a wet wooden deck outside the workshop it will turn but on the work bench or dry workshop floor the motors stall and nothing happens, they just get very hot.
Their max rpm is around 1100, even with the slight reduction from the right angle drive it needs more torque.
I will order some more with a substantial reduction 200 rpm or so. The motors I have come in a number or reductions with the same bolt pattern on the gearbox so mounting new ones won’t pose an issue. But I will need to re mount the rotation gearbox for the commander’s cupola.
I spent the last week or so fitting new springs and making new parts for the suspension linkages. I have simplified it and only have one actuator that moves the front and rear axles. I tweaked the spacing of the arms to avoid interference.
Now the tracks are done I’m almost in sight of a completed model.

Your metal work is outstanding.
I think as you mention you will need more torque - I would recommend 400-500 rpm motor output and maybe 24V if you can find them. Your model will be heavy with metal tracks. 12V will get hot as they are working hard with that weight.
I cannot seem to post a link for the motors, but you can search on AMZN or Aliexpress.
