Gentlemen,
First of all thanks to Bubbajoe for taking the time to post pics of his new release Sherman on here.
I've read that Bubbajoe isn't happy with the way the VVSS works on this new release. I've also read on our American friend's forum that it always was supposed to work this way.
In other words the "Road wheels" work in conjunction with each other. I.e one goes up and the other one is mechanically fixed to go down at the same time.
I can tell you all quite categorically that this is not the case. VVSS on the Sherman gave the ability for one road wheel to rise and compress the springs independenly of the other road wheel on the same "Bogie" assembly.
So Bubbajoe is right in his assessment on this vital issue.
I just thought I'd post this to put things right.
It looks like we are going to have to have a close look at these Shermans when we get them and figure out a way to make the VVSS to work properly.
Having said that, it sounds like a lot of fun doing it and making it all work

just so you can see how out of scale the parts are here is the machine gun top is mato sherman bottom is tamiya 1/16 scale machine gun

did the cal. on the gun here are the results
mato m2 50cal measured it and used this cal. http://jbwid.com/scalcalc.htm and the gun is close to 1:14 scal than 1:15 scale the gun is 4.567 inches long 65 inches converted to 1:15 scale 4.3333 and 65 inches converted to 1:14 scale is 4.674 inches the calculations dont lie

the tamiya gun is 4.1 inches thats less than 4 one hunderds over 1:16 scale inches over wich is 4.067

dude!! you seriously have your work cut-out with this one, it looks like you could spend more on the corrections than you did on the original tank..................oz

On reflection, what the manufacturer should have done, was release a finished version of their Sherman and have it reviewed by the RC Tank modeling fraternity. Then any constructive negative feedback, on whats wrong with the tank, could be addressed before its final production. The problem is though, we are probably kidding our selfs if we really believed this Sherman was meant to satisfy the needs of serious RC modelers . As far as Mato is concerned its a Kids toy and thats the market its aimed at and as such the detail and construction is good enough for that purpose.

The problem is ( as already has been mentioned ) after the purchase price and then the reconstruction, add on the price of upgraded parts , will it be as good or better than whats already available and at what price ?

Yep, they still haven't figured out what we do with their tanks. They are stuck in the 'kids toy' trench.

The crazy thing is that as far as moulding, detail and scaling is concerned, it doesn't cost any more to manufacture a great model, than it does to manufacture a poor one.

I can only hope that HL pull it off, I think that they might, they seem to have gone for the Tamiya market and recent production models are looking pretty damned good.
