No worries Herman, thanks for checking. Yes, this is an early release kit.

I think the next step will be to try some E-clips. I have a few of those spare to test as they used them to secure the road wheels.

I can confirm that e-clips don't fit into the suspension recess. I also sent an email to Hooben which has been ignored so I've hit them up on Facebook messenger as well.

If all else fails, it appears these things are known as omega clips and similar types are used in making fishing lures. I've found some local suppliers and while not exact, I might be able to modify them to work.

:{ :/ Duh: omega clips! I should have 1) recognized the shape of the Greek letter and 2) remembered the type from my 1984 reading of all the John Deere technical school textbooks (while working on a Ph.D. in a completely different area, my schizo-life.)

It's obvious when you hear the name isn't it. Apparently they are also used in door handles and window winders in older cars but I assume much larger. John Deere technical books sound like an interesting read. ;)

I saw some similar clips, but not exactly the same that were "wire retaining clips". They use them to ensure some types of wire connectors don't back off due to vibration, etc.

Thanks for the tip. Taigen might be a more reliable source if they are the same size. I've still heard nothing from Hooben.
