My name is Steve, I live on the Isle of Wight and I am very new to (and consequently not well informed about) RC anything, never mind tanks. After you have sighed and taken you head out of your hands, I will continue. I did an impulse purchase at the Tank Museum last week. I have a Challenger 2, which was the only one they had with metal tracks/wheels – not sure if that was a wise choice or not? I am no spring chicken, having retired to the Isle of Wight, but now work part-time, as I got bored (my kids have flown the nest). In my youth I built models to a reasonably good standard and would paint figures for my friend's Tamiya RC cars. Marriage, a career and kids led to the end of model making for me. I took up model making again upon retirement, which did not go well, I guess my coordination and eyesight are not what they were, so I count myself as an ex-modeller, interested in what model makers are doing. We have just one model shop on the Isle of Wight (no RC stuff) and a Warhammer shop, but that is it. To be fair, I spent a fair bit of money at both shops and they were very supportive when discussing my skills fade.
What can I contribute? Well at first, it will be my ignorance, but that comes with my interest and admiration. I look forward to meeting all of you in the future and you never know, some of you may be able to teach an old dog new tricks!
