That came out very nice and good to see another one of the group builds finished. How did you make out with those Taigen copper tow cables? I gave up using them a long time ago. The loops are too big/round and and the wire is too thick and will not hold paint for long even with metal primer. Obviously the track cable kits from Aber or Schumo are the best but with 3D printing now a few places are selling the loops printed to go with proper sized wire.

That's my last missing piece! Yeah struggling with them to be honest going hit them with some metal Primer in think and attempt to stretch them out a little with weights, considering doing a 3D printed verson along with the side skirts and hangers just need to get the time to get around to it!

jfulls94 is sure was fun watching your success with this build, from that pile of goodies to the Jagdtiger almost finished, except, understandably, the metal tow cables. I have both "steel" and brass cables with and without the cable ends, German, Russian, and U.S. I keep waiting for some master modeler to show us how to make paint stick to the doggone brass ones. (I do understand your frustration, Panzermechaniker.)

Hang the cables vertically.
Heat them up with a burner and leach all the oil out.
I brush paint the copper with undiluted Tamiya German Grey until it is fully soaked in, then rub them with a pencil to get a metalic look.
The same company still makes cable to this day and the material is generally almost a galvanised/dull grey colour unless its a different construction therefore different material.
They do rust over time but not quickly or at all if looked after.

Bix, I would not have thought to hang the cables vertically, but horizontally. I would use the oven, but then, it's my oven. So if one wanted and were patient, one might actually create real weathered cables.

I just grip them with pliers, zip tie the pliers together and hang them from an old table I use to paint on. Whack the flame onto them until they stop smoking and then when cool, hit them with the German Grey

I'll have to try this method! As I'd like to keep using metal tow cables rather than moulded plastic. I have some black Primer on mine but they aren't sticking.
