To the guys who do ir battles is the Hl emitter in the Panther good enough for 3 to 50 meter battle or should I be doing a upgrade ,the guys who I battle with now usually have ranges in the 0 to 20 meter range so far I have been able to hold my own ,but I am the most likely to hold in ambush and sneak if I can. If anyone has some hints please indulge I do use the HL receiver but am also upgraded to the Lego DEI also I would prefer to the air soft cannon active.

The LegoDEI receiver actually makes you easier to hit as it's more sensitive to the IR beam. It has 4 IR sensors facing front, rear, left and right. The HL mushroom has only one sensor and it basically is pointed toward the sky. What extends your range in firing is a better IR LED. A lot of clubs also say to put the LED in a tube 9-10mm from the edge so that it limits the scatter of the IR beam. There are several IR LEDs people use that are more powerful than the stock HL LED. I've used the Vishay TSAL6100 IR LED and it works really well. There is also a high power Osram, but I don't have a part number for that one.
