Re: sd.kfz 251d color
The interior colours of Tanks was covered on the Forum sometime back and if you look it up using the "SEARCH" facility you should be able to find your answer.
I think I am about to upset someone

Interesting.I have never seen an Sd.Kfz.251 with a fixed roof.jarndice wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 1:48 pm
There were a number of different interior colours and some Hanomag 251s did have a roof usually camvas but sometimes permanent, 251s in service in North Africa would have a white interior whereas in Russia the paint would be darker
The area around the driver and radio operator is clearly painted in ochre the seats are sometimes made of wood slats and are in that colour or covered in cloth and are dark or sometimes brown leatherette, the instruments are black needles on a white background, all these colours are variable,
I cannot find a definative source and the photographs can be misleading,
Post war 251s are unlikely to be bearing the original colours and wartime pictures are rarely in colour.
My 251 is in Desert sand exterior with a matte white interior except in the drivers space which is ochre and the whole floor area is in red oxide this being standard German undercoat.
A spare wheel kit for the 1/16 Hanomag 251 is available. The forward MG armoured shield is easy to make out of 2 cut to shape pieces of 2mm Plasticard.
At least not the original 251 from the war.
Do you have any pictures of this one?
As for the lighter colored interiors - almost white (not sandy yellow) , i have only seen those on vehicles that have a cannon.
For the example - 251/9, 251/10, 251/22.
Anyway, we can agree that sand yellow was the most common colour but there were many other colour schemes.
I'm calm and I don't see anything uncalm about my tone of reply.
I was just wondering what you were actually talking about, since the topic is about the Sd.Kfz.251.
I am thinking sand yellow, everything from the floor to the top but there were many other variations, depending on the version of the vehicle and the battlefield (region).
But thats just my opinion, i could be wrong.
I will ask the restorer. He will know.
