MrChef, I think I bought one or two Torro/Taigen tanks from this seller some years ago. All went well. I think he also sells magic trick stuff. Is that the same guy?

Are you being cheeky HDP? It's directly from MotionRC. I hope it is magic and an easy fix...

Maybe our magic community is all I'll need to get her sorted out.

Duh! There it is in the upper right corner of the image: "Motion RC." There are six small screws in the bottom half of my skull, and most of them are coming out. Yes, there was a fellow in the NYC area from whom I bought some Taigen tanks years ago.

Is that what Taigen calls the "Upper Hull Daughter board?
That is the upper hull daughterboard. The 8 pin connector that connects the MFU to this controls the following items.
  • Turret rotation motor
  • Cannon Elevation
  • Barrel Recoil
  • Airsoft launch
  • Headlight LEDs
  • Machine gun LED
If your tank does not have anything functioning of these, then it is likely that the 8-pin Cable is disconnected (Circled in green in the image).

I ordered the daughterboard for $4.99 and a 360 degree turret slip ring from Taigen. Those will be my first to try. I could also try swapping the MFU from my Taigen Tiger to test if it's that. If it's the MFU I'm ready to do a TK 7.0 swap.

Mr Chef. A word of warning. Before connecting up your turret features to your good mfu. Best to check for obvious shorts in the wiring, or factory mistakes, even last (I didn't try to fix it) owner interference etc. Any problems that could injure your working mfu and pride ;)

Remember. Pictures are your best friend. Can be used to:
  • Remember where wires go
  • show areas for requesting help
  • prove stuff was broken before you touched it...
  • show off your tank
  • request help identifying unknown pieces

Going by what you say the problems are on this tank I would check if the 8 pin wire is fully plugged in. As it sounds like someone has opened the tank to put the battery in pulled a little to hard and disconnected the 8 pin plug not fully but it's sitting at an angle so you still have MG and headlights as it doesn't say they don't work but don't have turret functions or rotation.

Motion RC had three of these with the same "Open Box" description. I ordered one as well and will share what I posted on another forum...

I received my Tiger today after a long and unnecessary journey by FedEx. It seems they wanted to take it past me to Nashville and back up to me. Usually packages from Motion come straight to Indiana from Illinois.

Anyway, the package arrived in one piece. The wooden crate is stapled together it appears. So so glue and screws are in order to improve the durability. The left top latch was found in the cardboard box and I didn't see the two small screws that are supposed to attach it.. Cool box though.

The lanyard loop on the transmitter somehow was broken. I don't use that anyway. (Open Box so that's OK).

I first checked the movement controls and forward/back and R/L turns worked as suspected. Turret rotated 360 degrees. The smoker...may need some fiddling with...

As expected, the barrel recoil and barrel elevation did not work. I could hear the elevation motor running but the barrel did not move. There was some odd noise that I think was coming through the speaker when the turret switch was turned on.
