Never had a Tank that I didn't fit gearbox output bearings to. It takes the stress out of the shafts and reduces unwanted torque on the gearbox mountings.

I just spoke to a motion rc representative and he said it has bushings fitted from the specs he looked at,so without takin the tank apart which I don't really want to do yet it sounds maybe like it's been thought of already.

I think he is speaking of the transmission. Jarndice is speaking of additional bearings added to the point where the axle leaves the "body".

I have never added bearings to any of my tank axles, but they don't get that much mileage and so far have not had any issues.

Yeah maybe the motion rc person meant the transmission but I did ask the guy on FB who has the same tank as me and he hasn't taken his apart either but he's had zero trouble with it but yeah my tank is definitely not gona have hard use,to be honest it will probably never leave my garden which is a good thing or unless I actually take it somewhere but I don't have transport to do so anyways and I admit I didn't think it would be as big as it is,I made a slight mistake with that lol but I would need a big tool bag or something to take it anywhere so yeah that's a issue for the future.

We have a member by the name of Zooma. Doubt there is many that that could match the mileage his tanks get. Here is a link to his builds; search.php?author=zooma&sf=firstpost&sr=topics. He mostly has used the Tamiyas but recently added a Heng Long to his fleet. Might be worth the effort going through his threads for some ideas.

I've been running my heavy M32 (viewtopic.php?t=34855) while towing a rather heavy M4A3 Sherman. It does not have the additional bearings and is running metal tracks (without issues). One nice thing about the additional bearings is it tends to "seal" that part of the hull, keeping sand, dirt and other stuff outside.

Fitting bearings to the out put shaft is on of the cheapest, and quickest way to upgrade a tank. It helps retain tracks especially if you use metal tracks. It also helps put the track tension forces through the hull, and not just on three tiny screws, holding the gearboxes in. So allowing better alignment of the sprocket. Well recommended, even for light running.

The longer the gearbox output shaft is the more a pair of output shaft bearings will save damage to the transmission.

Been messing with my leopard 2 just and the wheel covers still ain't fell off so seems foam tac glue is pretty good,how hard it will be to get them off when I need to I don't know lol but either way I am really happy about it.

What kind of glue do you all use to secure these in the wheel? I always worry that I’ll put them on, then need access to the screw underneath and not be able to get at it again to take the wheel off. Or use something too weak and the cap falls off in the grass somewhere, never to be seen again.

On my Abrams I have to take the idler wheel off to adjust track tension, and my sprocket frequently jams with grass, so I’d have to have regular access to these screws in particular.
