Today I worked on the trackguards.

I used Aber photoetch dot pattern antislip plate. The size is about perfect.

Once again, more time behind the computer and in front of the CNC than assembling the parts !

The parts, this time I reproduced the frame (a bit simplifier) of the 1:1 Hummel unlike what I did on my first model. This way I can glue the PE from the underside ! And it's easier to remove if I glue it the wrong way (learnt it the hard way on my first model, totally screwed the PE when I tried to debond it ). So here are the parts :

Assembling the parts :

Gluing the PE, on the 1:1 Hummel, each trackguard is made of 2 pieces, the curved one and the flat one. Unfortunatly the Aber PE was not long enough to get the flat section in one piece.

But wait, wait.. I don't have to ?!!

Seriously I still have a lot of details to add (the joy of open fighting compartment ) and winter is coming, I won't be able to prime or paint anything until March or April now so it won't be finished any time soon... but I may also join the group build with a Sherman...

I am sorry you will not be able to paint in winter. But don't worry, you are so far ahead of many of us that you will have plenty of time as the weather warms next spring.

(I know one long-time, award-winning modeler who does not hesitate to use his airbrush indoors with acrylic paints. I cannot advise doing so. When I lived in apartments, I used spray cans, warmed them in water, warmed any metal parts in the oven at a very low temperature, and then held the parts out the door spraying toward the outside. I never made any mess in an apartment--though how I managed is something I now find incredible.)
