Hi guys new to 1/16 RC Tanks so thought this might be a good place for advice.
I've just brought a Heng Long Sherman tank and would like to convert it to a 76mm gun tank using the Torro upper deck and turret and was wondering how easy a conversion this is I'm an experienced modeller and have completed many scratch builds and conversions mainly 1/35 and 1/72 but never with anything with any electronics in is it just a case of unplugging the old and plugging in the new?.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Hi there.
Actually very easy. I've not played with the Toro upper (but have on the Mato). There is a metal and at least one resin turret out there for the 76. The electrics change between makes but there is usually ways around this. I installed a Heng Long motor in a Tamiya turret rotation gear assm. and vice versa just to make sure both systems were ok. Turret rings (diameter) tend to be the same size on the Toro/HL/Mato but are different on the Tamiyas. But a bit of creativity and even the hulls can be used with other turrets.
Here is a link for my M4A1 that is a resin hull but copied the Tamiya turret pattern, and I was using a HL turret:

The HL hull is not that bad and like I said, no experience with the Toro. Some one else can chime in but there may not be a need to swap upper hulls just the turret. If the turret is metal and the Toro is also that could be a good reason to swap. Though I was able to reinforce a plastic hull to support a metal turret.

Re: Hi there.
Thank you Eric. from what I've read so far the turret ring on the torro is deeper so the HL upper deck isn't compatible with the torro turret.
Great conversion work your doing very inspirational.

Re: Hi there.
Deeper isn't necessarily an issue. But if you've found some info on it, then you are ahead of me on the Toro. Pictures (while not mandatory) are very welcome on this forum. We love to watch and see each other's work.

Re: Hi there.
I cannot be sure, but check the prices for a whole Torro (or Taigen, same thing) Sherman with the 76. You may find it less costly just to buy the whole tank: then you have two Shermans! What is more, you are likely to find that the Torro (Taigen) Sherman sounds much better than the more generic sound in the HengLong. (Both the Taigen and the HengLong have their strengths.)
And since you have modeling experience, you have two tanks to detail and weather.

Herr DR.Professor yes that's definitely an option.
