Hi John,

so i just nabbed a Porsche turret kit today for $100 and want to use the turret for my FO King Tiger build, is this a bolt on affair mainly and as for ATAK Zimmerit I only see a set for Trumpeter, is that what you used?

Nice to hear from you Pitstain. Good score for $100.00 . If you go to Atak model website you will see I used Kit ZM-1610 which is available and made for Tamiya Porsche King Tiger. As to turret rotation I am following a old build of another tanker and using a Tamiya [Hop up option] RC TANK DMD Turret unit .Part number OP.400.Long out of production but do come up on eBay sometimes. You will see it in my photos. I paid $44.00 for mine and I am doing a little mod so it is compatible with Tamiya's full option electronics. This was originally made to be a optional extra for Tamiya's early RC Porsche King Tiger kit 56007 .There a few article's of what different tankers have used to modify this turret for rotation ,elevation and recoil on this site and RC Universe site. I found a 53400 aka OP.400 for a bit over $100, but is it not possible to use the Henschel king tiger full option parts on the Porsche turret for rotation?

I could even cut and graft part of the lower turret half to the Porsche lower turret half if things got extreme.

Not sure. The hole in the deck for the turret has never changed and the turret ring on both types of turret measure the same. They say where there is a will there is a way. Like to see a post on what you are up to .regards John.

I will do a build thread for this frankentank project, and i realized how stupid i was after scrolling down a bit on the Atak site and found the Tamiya Porsche Zimmerit and ordered it.....for $60 shipped to the US...as usual one bargain find causes ancillary spending LOL.
