Unless you enjoy your KV-2 with a turbine, not so good.

Re: Heng Long KV-2
TX supposedly offers 2 different sound sets but I cannot get the bloody thing to work. Prompt sounds but the effects remain same with turbine sounds as loud as they come.
I can pick up 6.0 boards here for next to nothing - 208RMB - but then it sounds just like the JP which I recently bought with the 6.0 knowing what I did about HL's latest version. Can get the CS-TK16 but cannot get any info on their sound set from dealer & not interested in wasting 528RMB on a board with more modern tank sounds.
Sure which Open Panzer's TCB was still around. Shame Hobby King screwed the pooch with that one since a buddy has one in his Metal Box Luchs & it sounds very nice!

Re: Heng Long KV-2
Doubtful given the kids who run HL now, typical of second generation ownership but these guys think they're China's version of the Tamiya dynasty. Not saying they'll run the company into the ground like one often sees here but they seem far too proud for their own good.HERMAN BIX wrote:Surely they are hatching a sound module like the Taigen one...........
They may want to take heed now given the current management out of Beijing.

Re: Heng Long KV-2
I would much prefer a tank with proper sounds over this limited edition certificate that arrived today from HL.

Re: Heng Long KV-2
I just saw that toucan hobby is selling the static version on Aliexpress for $55. Unfortunately shipping is twice as much, $110.
Re: Heng Long KV-2
Yes, I noticed it too, although shipping was the same price as the tank, I found a cheaper version closer by with old electronics. So for now it will run, in future I will change/update the electronicsShagnifico wrote:I just saw that toucan hobby is selling the static version on Aliexpress for $55. Re: Heng Long KV-2
Some WIP photos of HL's new KV-2.
Got the sounds to work after dropping the TX - didn't see that in the manual but now it sounds more like a proper diesel. Will ditch that BB gun & add a muzzle flash. Here's a short test video so you can hear for yourself.

It's going to remain in this state for now since I got it as a runner for the kids but I do plan to remove the applique armor amid other mods in an attempt to backdate the hull to make it more like the real thing. Not sure how much MEK they used to glue on that armor since its impossible to remove without a saw.
Have bookmarked Blimp's excellent primer for the needed mods: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=7836&start=60 I did add a track link to slacken up that track but this I'll pass on relocating the rollers 3.5mm down. Sorry but I don't have enough hours in my day for that level of rivet counting.
Other than missing hubcaps for the rollers, overall pleased with the beast.
