Re: metal idlers?
Yes,its best to insert metal idlers on a Tiger I. I put metal sprockets, tracks and idlers on mine but left the gearbox plastic as it was in top condition at the time. However, the sheer weight of the tank with the metal parts put pressure on the box and the plastic teeth stripped in no time at all!! Therefore if you are going to upgrade to metal parts, take my advice and upgrade the lot! Leave nothing to chance.!!

Re: metal idlers?
you should go for the metall hull
for the HL Tiger. Got it for one of my HL Tigers, and I must say that I am very happy with this. Beside the metal hull advantage, it also gives you a quick click mount on-off system to get inside the tank.
Worth every penny.

Re: metal idlers?
I'm running plastic idlers on all 4 tigers, you should be fine so long as you don't have excessive track tension
