Hull machine gun travel, can't you make an elevation unit turned round 90 degrees. Small servo and gears here is a picture, just a matter of getting the gear centred on the ball mount of the mg.The big gear shown is scrap, you can buy sets of finer toothed gears.
This setup gives you an idea for fixing the wobble.

Well, I have had a go at modulating the Panzer grey. I was decidely handicapped by two major factors. First was my limited airbrush skills. The second and probably more important was that I did not have a clue what I was doing or what effects I should be trying to achieve. I have not used the whole range of paints. Anyway, this is how it has ended up.

I still have the wash and filter to apply plus some mild weathering.

An excellent suggestion. Unfortunately there is insufficient room. The pinion gear would sit within the turret ring.

I hope you don't mind Richard but I've added a few pics for reference as you are doing a similar paint job on yours. Unfortunately mine is only a static model as it was partially glued when I bought it and the tracks are only the plastic ones so not suitable for rc  I'm still happy with it as a display piece in my collection though

I don't mind at all. I have in mind something very similar in terms of weathering. I am even intending to use the same tank number!
