taigen t34/85 help?
Hi Lads , about to build a taigen based t34/85, I have most of the parts from dave at forgebear, most helpful chap, but about the inners? I would like to later ir battle her, so was looking down the IBU2pro way? what are other good set ups that I can get ok here in the uk? does the ibu fit ok in the t34? any advice welcome, ie worth fitting a Tarr mk1 smoker? thanks glen
Re: taigen t34/85 help?
The t34 probably has less space inside it than any other tank and it can be a real pain to get a hobby grade board in there. I have yet to hear of anyone being able to fit an IBU in a t-34. Your choices are pretty much limited to the Clark tk22 or the ASP, but the ASP is out of stock right now. If it was me, I would just go with the Clark tk22.
As for the smoker, again, because of space considerations you're probably better off to just stick with the stock unit that attaches to the underside of the upper Hull.
But if you do figure out how to get an IBU and tarr in there I sure hope you'll post lots of photos because I would love to see it. One of the main things that has kept me from building another t-34 is the lack of space so if you can figure out how to shoehorn that stuff in there you'll be my hero for at least 20 minutes.

I agree with Max, the innards are limited bit a nice tk22 can be substituted for an even better tk24 much better sounds, same small footprint and has neutral shift, Sbus version allows for switches to operate multiple functions and you can ir battle

Tanks alot....

One of our club runs an ibu2 in an su-100 with almost the full interior, I count at least 3 ibu2 in a henglong t34 without issue at the mad club and ian uses a t-34 as a test mule in some of his videos. You might need to run a smaller lipo and compromise on speaker size but it's most defiantly possible.
Re: taigen t34/85 help?
I know of several people running an ubu2 in a heng long t34 and if the hull is the taigen metal one there loads of room I have an su100 with full fighting compartment in the front and an ibu2 and a smaller battery in the back half with the gearboxes no room for a smoker but that's because I have a full interior in the front.

The T-34 doesn't have as much space as the German big cats, but you can still fit everything you need in one.
Here's mine with an IBU2, Tarr smoker, and gigantic Visaton FRS7 speaker.

Lads you have all been a great help, one thing , so far I have found the taigen parts very nice detail, however I do not like the ir battle hatch set up, lovely kit and then 3 holes in the turret, has everyone left it like that? or is there a mod to add the working hatch and drop down the ir battle stuff? or am I being way too picky? thanks for all the help glen

No glen, I agree with you it a very poor feature on an otherwise excellent modelglenny25 wrote:Lads you have all been a great help, one thing , so far I have found the taigen parts very nice detail, however I do not like the ir battle hatch set up, lovely kit and then 3 holes in the turret, has everyone left it like that? or is there a mod to add the working hatch and drop down the ir battle stuff? or am I being way too picky? thanks for all the help glen
Re: taigen t34/85 help?
I am thinking take the turret apart, take out the hole hatch, use some plastic card to shim down the ir battle set, and replace the hatch with the BB one, so I have a nice model , and then can open to fit ir battle?? sound ok ?
Re: taigen t34/85 help?
So I've now seen an IBU in a T-34 and that's a very nice set-up. I keep forgetting that IR tanks don't have that big honkin' airsoft unit hangin' down out of the turret. The StuG/PzIII is kinda the same way, you can lay the board flat like that for IR, but with airsoft you have to stand the IBU on it's side to get the clearance, and then only in the StuG, not the PzIII.
Have you thought about the hidden IR receiver system? Can't remember the name, wanna say viper but that's prolly not right.
Then you don't have to worry about an apple (mushroom) at all, but I understand you lose the 45 degree safety zone? I don't really have anyone to battle with nearby so most of my tanks have been airsoft. Now, if ya wanna talk FPV ...

Or paintball ... Bwahahaha
