Alwyn Turner's Nashorn Kit Function Tests

After I dialed in the electronics this evening, I decided to keep making videos and show some of the Clark board functions with the fantastic kit that Mr Turner produced.

Richard's fantastic work on his kit had inspired me over the past few weeks to finish the weathering and details on this piece. I added the metal pull cable for the front gun mount, added oils and pigments to the model and seperated the gun assembly mount.

Nice to be able to complete this and with Richard's inspiration I decided to finish the details. The Clark tk60 does an amazing job bringing this tank hunter to life.

And yes that's my son Jacob talking and operating the gun in the background. He's my gunner

Each time I see one of Alwyn's kits, I think that it exceeds the quality that any mass producer could hope to achieve. Excellent job on the build, it looks and sounds the part.

Hi Carl, Thank you for those very kind but really undeserved words for my humble efforts. All I do is try to copy work from others on the forum, including your good self. With the Nashorn, I am trying to do justice to Alwyn's excellent kit. I have yet to fully grasp streaking and its implementation. Last time I tried it, I basically washed off everything I had put on!

As a side issue, what did you do to convert the gun cradle? Is is a working system?

Hi Richard I don't know if I'll ever master the art of streaking... (unless I disrobe and run across a football field )

I've learned that my oil streaking works best when applied to my acrylics not as good with oil based products as it can wash away the finish.

What makes Alwyn's kit so fantastic is the fit and finish lend themselves to a great build and much of it is a joy to assemble.

The gun assembly is as Mr Alwyn designed it. I've only modified the servo linkage to fit a larger recoil servo. This was clearly a result of my error as I tightened the assembly screws too much and the servo jammed up.

The gun traverse is the excellent mini motor design that Alwyn created works flawlessly

Sorry, I think I got my terminology wrong. What I meant was the front gun mount, which is in one piece as supplied. I see you have cut the top off and permanently fixed this to the barrel. I wondered what else you have done and whether it has a working release wire.

I wish it was a functional piece it does actually rest in the lower opening on the frame but the wire cable does not operate it's just setting place

Sounds like a great team effort there, Carl- and an international team, no less. RCTW costs through isolationism, eh? Love the sounds and the finishing touches. In fact, let me admit I rather envy your ability to actually finish a model.
Some of us here hop from one project to another like bees looking for nectar Congrats to all concerned! Oh, and thanks for the demo too... I really must create a Youtube account (2018 resolution.. )
