Technically Roy but any duty £7 or under gets waived, with. Duty, at 2.5% means in reality anything under £280 ish won't incur anything. I think I'm getting confused with the higher rate duty, when I got my js2 I was just charged vat but when I got my Riva aquarama there was some duty added.

Customs Duty
You’ll be charged Customs Duty on gifts and other goods sent from outside the EU if they’re above a certain value.

The value includes:

the price paid for the goods
postage, packaging and insurance
Type and value of goods Customs Duty
Anything under £135 No charge
Gifts worth £135-£630 2.5%, but rates are lower for some goods - call the helpline
Gifts above £630 and other goods above £135

The prices aren't all that far from what's available at my local hobby shop when you consider that these would get slapped with import duties and/or GST since they're over AU$1000, never mind shipping. Although I think it's funny that a "cheap" new Tamiya is over a grand. I might have chosen the wrong hobby. :/

(Yes Tom I know Tamiyas can be had for a tenner if you know where to look, but nobody knows where to look! :haha: )

Been slim pickings last 6 months on the really cheap tamiya front :( I will maintain second hand ones represent really excellent value.

Tbh the hobby grade end of the hobbys getting expensive, a new taigen with hobby grade electrics is knocking on for tamiya price.
