Tamiya Tanks in the UK
On Facebook, I came across a link to a UK supplier of Tamiya Tanks. Unless I am missing something, his prices seem to be eminently reasonable. https://www.rcjaz.com/tamiya-military-r ... 33_96.html

I thought there would have to be a catch. The link was posted by someone who had bought tanks from there but he made no mention of customs. The impression was it was a UK company. I will go back and double check.

They're definitely Hong Kong based (have a look at the about us section) but even with 20% vat prices are competitive

It wouldn't be to bad just to pay the 20% vat on the item but they hit you also with a handling? charge just for looking
at it, think its about £18

According to the person who bought a Super Sherman, he paid £574 including P & P with a 5 -12 day delivery time. That is less than the quoted selling price plus VAT. I've asked him abut the import duties. If I get a reply, I will let you know.
Update - he says he did not pay any VAT or import duty.

He was very lucky. You shouldn't pay duty on it as the values too low but you'll pay vat and handling charge (probably)silversurfer1947 wrote:According to the person who bought a Super Sherman, he paid £574 including P & P with a 5 -12 day delivery time. Amazon UK now sell Tamiya full-option tanks, Richard. The Stock M4 is currently £516, and the Super £607 inc VAT and postage. Generally, Full-Option models are as cheap there as anywhere else in the UK and often cheaper. (Tamiya and 'Cheap' make a perfect oxymoron, of course, especially in Britain..

Jadlam and others also sell through Amazon. I bought my Tamiya KT from Amazon for under £500 (on offer). That was less than anywhere else at the time. Much as we might resent Amazon's slippery ability to duck tax bills, their range of products now embraces a significant sector of the UK model tank market...

You will be charged duty, Tom, for any items exceeding £135 in value, plus VAT and handling fees. I got stung for an airsoft barrel recoil Tiger (metal) turret from Imex a couple of years ago, and second hand motherboard posted from Switzerland (non-EU country) and described as a 'gift'. That cost me £33 in fees. It's better for the sender/vendor to be be less than 'accurate' with the value and description of the package contents, it seems.
