Some Heng Long RX18 control boards have a ducted fan fitted to keep them running cool,
Can you imagine how much heat would build up in a fully enclosed metal Hull where the only source of cool air (The engine louvre's) was blocked by your grandmothers tights
The only place where there needs to be real protection from the grit and dust is the Gearboxes,
That is as long as you keep away from the Beach and sandpits,
Afterall whenever you change the Battery you will be able to clean the inside of the Hull at the same time,
By the way the Wheels and transmission do not react well to long grass either.
It is an easy job to make and fit a Bulkhead between the gearboxes and the rest of the Hull,
Just type bulkhead into the search box on the top right of this page to find out how.
Shaun.
Not having one of the new PCB unit yet I wasn't aware of the heat they give off. I might build a bulkhead behind the gearboxes & see how grannys tights do with the heat management :haha:
If nothing else, the bulkheads will help keeping water out;or in?

My hatches have arrive for my Panzer IV, can anyone point me in the direction of a tutorial on fitting the hatches successfully? I'm still waiting on the Accessory pack from the US to fill the empty deck holes but I have accurate lights to fit & upgraded radio gear. I'm looking forward to playing with my Panzer. It will get stripped down before getting its final colour scheme & some skirts.

During the opening of my Panzer IV i managed to break one of the turrets grab handles. Because i have an accessory pack on the way from Imex(still) i wasn't worried. Until i noticed there were no grab handles included in the pack. No worries, i grabbed some 2mm galvanised wire and bent the wire to shape. 2 minutes with a drill and a quick spray of paint and i was sorted. I wish all jobs were this quick?

I spent some time on my Tiger tonight, I will have to spend some time on my Panzer IV tomorrow once I've sorted out the Tigers light which don't work at the moment after I messed with the wiring.

Fitting the grills was easier than I thought but even with preparation, painting them wasn't easy but I got it done.

I added the braided hoses today, quite a simple job, so simple I skipped Breakfast to sit down & work on the Tank. The metal Drivers Hatches turned up this morning so I need to mod the Tank to take them. The Panzer IV accessory kit turn up as well, so I can look forwards to starting on that Tank. The debris screens were prepared & cleaned before paint but they still wouldn't take the paint. I painted them eventually but i'm not sure how long the paint will stay on {time will tell?}

Well, things have moved on apace since I joined.I now have a total of three partial/full Tigers, a Panzer 3 & a Panzer IV & bought my Son a Challenger 2. The modding bug has bitten so i'll be building a Late Production Tiger out of the new tank I got today. Now I need to spend my money on upgrades rather than new Tanks{for now!}. I have a plan & will start a build thread accordingly when I begin? I doubt it will be the class of some of the builds on here but it's all a learning curve?

Well here I am a couple of months later, thanks to the helpfulness of the RC Tank community I have learnt an awful lot about the Tanks I love. Considering I said to myself I wouldn't be getting the Barbie for men that is the Tiger 1, I failed dismally. I have a fully operational Early Tiger 1, a Late period Tiger 1 i'm working on {see pictures} & 1 1/2 more Tigers waiting their turn to be completed. I intend buying a full metal Mato kit Tiger & i'm being given a restoration project so it looks like i'll end up with 6 Tigers by Christmas {& I still haven't bought a Stug or Panzer 2}.
I have a list of tanks I want to get starting next year with a Stug but I have now included a Panther, King Tiger & Jagpanther in my list. I intend buying the most upgraded Tank I can afford each time to minimise the amount of money needed to upgrade it. I don't want an out of the box RTR Tank as I enjoy tinkering. I'm buying a Mato Tiger with the full intention of upgrading & painting it to the best of my ability. God help me, I've even started looking at 1/6 Tanks.
My other Tigers will consist of one more Late/Mid period Tiger & another two Early period Tigers. 6 is my limit though.
On my radar are the Russian Tanks T34, T90, KV1 & buying myself a Challenger. I'm still considering buying a Sherman, although I consider that buying one is almost inevitable?
So once again, thank you to everyone who has given me advice and physical help.
