I flew into Bembridge Airfield many years ago with a friend who owned a Piper Cherokee. It's a scary approach to the runway from a Seaward direction, and across some fairly vertiginous scary cliffs.

In those days, though, we were interested in vintage WW2 aircraft, and gadding about like Biggles to remote airfields. Didn't see much of the Island, however, but it looked good from the air....and from some of the local bars. Needless to add, we didn't fly under the influence of anything...except enthusiasm
