Hi Gary. Take a look at the rctank.de web. They sell torro tanks but they have the same photos that taigen has, even that horrible white panzer IV with some coca cola badly sprayed over it!

Yep, Taigen might correct the return roller (and they will do nothing about the rest of the long list of errors), but im sure the factory is the same and we will see the PIV with the return roller corrected in the near future (second batch maybe).

Also the electronics are exactly the same, with the clark sound. Obviously is not a coincidence.

Ofcourse you might find some diffefences in some products, but its mostly the same.

No, it's not a coincidence and I'm also sure they're made in the same factory, but don't put too much faith in the photos. I've found they don't always tell the whole truth and they get swapped back and forth all the time. Another difference that stands out is that you guys in Europe get Torro tanks in the wooden box, while that's not available in the US. It's a pretty tangled web, and I'm not sure I'll ever get it straightened out, I just know I frequently see differences in tanks from one vendor to another. If anyone ever gets it all sorted out I sure hope they post the findings and educate this dumb old hippie.

That would be good info, Sollie. They say that wooden box adds quite a bit to the price, do you think it's worth it?

WT,
Thanks for the reply! I suppose it is possible for anyone to have a bad day, including Eric. Speaking only from my own experience, he has always struck me as professional, friendly and seriously all-in as far as RC Tanks go. Sheared gears in the airsoft body, the MATO M4A1 I just repaired had spun a gear on the shaft. As soon as you get the new recoiling airsoft mech, feed it better ammo. Seriously, Doc. Also, there are a number of videos on the Web that will assist in getting longer life out of these units. If you want to hear the where and how that the recoiling version came to be, send Saxon Dog a PM here on the board. Tanks of OKC, I like those guys. I bought my Hooben Elefant kit from them. They are big into providing completely assembled, detailed and weathered tanks. I don't think that IMEX would offer those services but with Eric, it's hard to tell. He just might on a whim. Good luck and have fun tanking! ;o)
regards,
Painless

The last Taigen early Tiger 1 I bought had the charging socket at the rear plate of the tank - I mistakenly thought that rear charger points were Torro only.

As for the wooden box, when you look closely the quality of the box is poor - the softwood used splits very easily - especially around the hinges

Having said that it does make a good impression.
However the Taigen and Torro Tiger 1s are now the same - or so it would appear except the wooden box adds around £80.00 to the price.....

Thanks for the post Painless Wolf. I was going to get Elite Force Bios. for it I was hoping to use the ones that the tank came with until I get those but maybe not now. I'm also looking at changing to a UBU-2 board and their smoke unit cause mine just went out today. The smoke is coming out of the side of the unit.
