Taigen airsoft experence and Clark boards.

Post by Wolverine Tanker »

I have had my Taigen Tiger ! for about 2 months and I started having problems after about 40 shots. It just clicked. I ordered the new recoil unit to replace it and it came in the mail and I was so excited. I installed it and it worked for about 15 shots. To say the least I was mad. I called Imex and asked to speak with someone about my tank and they took a message saying that Eric was on lunch. I waited for about an hour and a half and called again. I spoke with Eric and tried to explain what was going on. He told me that the air soft units are not under a warranty and that they are as he put it. ( High Maintenance) He told me that I should have bought a couple of units because they go out all the time. I said maybe you should have stated that on your website because If I'd known that I was going to have to purchase a new unit every time I go out and shoot it I should have bought the Infrared model. He said he would send me another air soft unit.
Also I spoke with him about upgrading to a Clark tk22 board. I saw a video on u tube with him installing it on a Taigen tank. I asked because my turret wiring was not set up the way it was on the video. He said they have had many new innovations and that it was an old video. (2016) He said Taigen doesn't support Clark or any other aftermarket company. I said if that was the case them he should remove the videos.
I don't know if your customer service is this way across the pond but here in the Good Ole US that''s what we have to put up with. :{

Good afternoon,
I'm going to stand up and play Devils Advocate for a moment. IMEX and Eric are pretty much the only game running here in the States save for MATO Mart up in Canada. Wolverine Tanker, a few questions, please. Did your recoil Airsoft mechanism stop recoiling or did it jam with an airsoft BB? What kind of airsoft shot are you using in your tank? Hopefully, a good aftermarket brand and not the nonsense that the Chinese pack in with those vehicles? Eric specifically told you that a part of a Tank that they sell is not under warranty? ( and what is the warranty on a Taigen Tiger?) "High Maintenance Airsoft" is not something that I can argue about. It's true and sadly so, every manufacturer is bedeviled with it. ( I just finished repairing a MATO airsoft unit in one of their early plastic Sherman M4A1s ) IR for battling with a group of like minded hobbyists is definitely on the rise. Please keep us updated on this issue. As you said, Eric is sending you another airsoft unit, no charge for that? That video that you mention is on Clarks site as well. I don't take it as an indication that Taigen is going to start selling tanks with Clark boards installed. I know that they are working on their own branded stuff and use Flysky radios with it. That video is just a How-To, I believe. If you would like to install a Clark MFU in your tank, you would want to talk to Max here on the Forum. He is our local Clark Guru. Following along.
regards,
Painless Wolf

Hey, Painless, you mean Maxmekker, right? He's Sollie on RCU so that's what I usually call him, and you're right, he definitely does know his electronics. Now if I could just convince him that Detroit is the ONLY "Rock City". :haha: :/ @) @) ;)

Now that is a strange little story.

I've been over at rcu a long time , posting stuff and what not, but feel the forum is not a responding as some of the ones we have here, so it's become more so that I take a peak from time to time .
What I have seen is Erik posting some exciting news , but dates on releases and such is sometime in the blue. And suddenly you can go to rctank.de, and he will have the suff allready in stock. Like the leo lower, ore the new P4 ore what not . Still puzzels me who is making what , and how come it shows up faster here than in the states. Usually it is the other way around :D

Also seems airsoft is more pop in the US than here in Europe , am I right ? Now I hope you get that unit sorted .

he made a tk22 Clark installation video in 2015 it seems

phpBB [video]

and for the airsoft setup also

phpBB [video]

Since then he/they' have developed their own soundboard upgrade, sounding pritty much like a tk22 grade board, so that might be why he dont speak of
the Clark uppgrade atm, and as wolf say, it was just to show how it could be done . Could probably been an ibu unit if he had one at hand .

if you would still be interested in Clark uppgrade, I can help you out . The tk24 would be a nice board, same size as the tk22, but sound'engine' have been much improoved.

Here is a few clips of how the tiger/kt/jt sounds can be ( this is the bigger tk60 board, but the sound from a tk24 would be the same)
as with all other boards, it will require of you to get a new radio. My self I use a 4-6ch hobbyking radio costing some 25-30 $

Taigen would like us to think their units are better, but I ain't buyin' it. I've replaced literally dozens of these things. Sometimes you get a good one, and sometimes not. You get a good one maybe 20% of the time, or one out of five. But when you do get a good one it tends to work like a champ for years. A buddy of mine has several airsoft tanks and he's extremely lucky with these things, he hasn't had to replace a single one. I, on the other hand, have gone through three of them in a row in the same tank, not getting more than about 50 rounds from each. Early on in the hobby (about four years ago) I reconciled myself to the fact that airsoft units and smokers just don't last. My only consolation is that they're only ten bucks each. I look at them as though they were racing fuel. I have to fill the muscle car on a regular basis. Can ya dig it? I know it's frustrating, but I still haven't come up with a solution. Hey, there's a niche market for ya - building dependable airsoft units. Maybe someday.

Interesting point what Maxmakers said. I was very surprised too see that Taigen was going to release the new PIV and the new soundboard and we had no info about it, but suddenly I found that the tanks and soundboard were already available in Europe, and I even found some videos of it in youtube.

Exactly the same tanks, with same paint, with the same boards, but under the name of Torro. That confirms agin that the tanks are mass produced in China and rebranded again and again.

Update.... I spoke with a guy from Oklahoma (RC tanks of Oklahoma) and he said I must have spoke with Eric on a bad day. I didi'nt have a jam in the unit. The gears sheared inside. I was still using the pellets that came with the tank. But I just bought this recoil air soft unit and had just installed it. I paid $ 151.00 good ole American dollars for it. Anyway Nate from OKC talked me through the Clark board that I purchased from them and the sound board works. As far as the air soft unit I still have to wait until I get another from Eric. I really like Taigen tanks and I plan to buy another but I think I'll get it from OKC.

Rad, the tanks that Taigen puts out before Imex are not always exactly the same. With the new Panzer IV, the tanks currently available still have the last return roller in the wrong place, but that will probably be fixed in the tanks that Imex will soon release. Also, when the Jagdtiger first came out it appeared first in Europe, but those tanks had zinc gears and the Imex release had the latest ball bearing steel gearboxes. I've really tried to figure out the relationship between Imex, Torro and Taigen, but it's pretty confusing. I think it would take an MBA to get it all straight, and I'm just a dumb old hippie so it's beyond me. I do know that all three companies are interconnected somehow, I just can't figure out who owns what.

Anyway, the point is that I'm waiting for the Imex release on the P4 because I know it will be a better tank.
