Experience with ABER 1/16 Tiger I mid season detail kit

Hey there. After buying a Tiger I late in 1/35 scale and comparing this to my Taigen late, I came to the conclusion that the rc tiger deserves better detailing. Tools are mandatory, but kits usually don't contain the long crowbar directly in front of the turret. There also is no "late" detail set available. But a quick look at the aber set for the hobby boss might do the trick. Adding the late starter plate and the turret armour ring could make proper late? What do you think and is here anybody with experience for the aber mid tiger kit? Some parts look really tricky to make.

Good morning...ABER?? ... *Runs screaming into the mountains* ... Seriously tho', if you are going to tackle photo etch parts, make sure that you are prepped with LED magnification and some tools like Tamiyas excellent bending pliers or a multi Bend tool. This goes for either ABER or VOYAGER PE parts sets in 1/16 scale. How those guys who do PE in 1/35 and smaller scales do it is beyond me. Must have access to electron microscopes or summat. Thanks for your advise . I got a bit of experience with the late clamps set and the Panther basic kit. I am able to make them work, although the clamps are no jewelers quality . They like used, if u get me . But on the Tiger kit all the cable holders make me think. Those loom... Ehm... Interesting to assemble. On the other hand you get everything. Even optics or the fire extinguisher brackets, that would be 17€ alone here. The basic tiger mid kit runs at 55€. So looks like a bargain in comparison. ATM im doing stuff at a time. Sit for an hour to make a few clamps or add to the panther tool rack. Then stop and come back the other day. No wonder neither of the two Panthers is finished yet and then I start asking for the tiger already.

I did some PE once and after much cursing and looking for tiny parts on the shed floor decided it's not really for me. The working jack block mount on my Tiger 1 looked cool but I ended up gluing it closed to stop it falling off anyway.

It's worth considering the type of use your tank will get before going too crazy on the PE details. They look awesome but some can be very easily lost or damaged when running around the yard.
There would be nothing worse than spending some hard earned and a few frustrating hours on some fine details only to lose them in a garden bed.

I have to agree with the last post. I fitted quite a few Aber enhancements to my Tiger, have dropped and lost a few in the assembly. The operating clamps are no good for anything other than a shelf queen - if you drive the tank then glue them shut.Several have come detached, and that is just running round on our battleground which is mainly carpeted floor. Having said that, they looked very good when I first fitted them.

Gosh, thank you for those helpful comments. Indeed I was thinking about gluing clamps shut. Your support now is convincing. Mainly, I would say those tanks will sit in the shelf, but shall also grind the dirt. On the other hand it is worth rethinking the detailed side mounted cable clamps.

Soeren, another route that you can consider is something that I experimented with on Mikes Tiger, using the ABER pieces to 'decorate' an existing Tamiya part, mount or tool. This worked fantastically well as it provided the solid mount of the Tamiya part but dressed it up with solidly attached brass bits as well. I think I only used the complete ABER kit pieces on assemblies that I knew would be out of the way while the tank was being run. ( Commanders Hatch Interior, etc. )

What do you mean exactly? For instance glue the aber clasp handle to the Tamiya tools, or the aber brackets the lift some of the clamos off the surface? I guess I will have to revisit your built report.

Those were some very good hints. Thank you guys. I now see that I want as much reinforced parts as I can, so always better glue thinks in place, than have them workable.
