How do I open these things?
I can't see how to take the top off my new (2nd hand) Taigen Panzer IV and Pantiger, I don't want to break them.

If they are H/L ?
The PZ IV has screws underneath, they must all be removed to get the upper hull off and access the turret slew ring which will allow the turret to be removed.
As for the Pantiger, if it has 2 screws where the normal Tiger does, the tracks must be removed.
I have no idea about the Pantiger as I have never had one.

For the legendary 'Pantiger', some might suggest a large hammer or axe!
Otherwise, a decent set of crosshead screwdrivers, small 'torx' set, bubble wrap- or similar- to prevent damage to the upturned tank- and careful investigation prior to disassembly. Also check out Taigen guru's ('Imex-Erik's) helpful videos on Youtube:

Vow, I suppose I'm the only owner of the Pantiger. Feeling strange, since you know that it's a Pantiger, why do you still buy it? I don't know about Taigen but H/L tanks have six screw below the chassis. You have to open all of them to open the upper hull. Why not a few photos?lifeofbrian wrote:I can't see how to take the top off my new (2nd hand) Taigen Panzer IV and Pantiger, I don't want to break them.

Hi mate
your not the only one to have a pantiger .
Its been in my procession for a few years now and has never given an once of trouble, still running on a rx13 board.
As been said 6 screws hold the top on.
Numerous people have adviced me to ditch the top and turn it into a tiger, but to be honest as long as she keeps going I'm going to leave it alone,(as the saying goes "if it ain't broke don't fix it"

Re: How do I open these things?
Your Pantiger looks great. yeah, don't fix it if it doesn't broke. I did a bit upgrade on my Pantiger but never convert it to a real tiger. I moved the on/off switch from the bottom to the rear because I hate to flip over the tank to switch it on/off. I also add a charging port at the rear so that I can charge the battery without removing the battery. There's a vital problem on my Pantiger, if I run it on uneven surface, the right track will surely throw off. I've been looking into this issue for a long time but never really resolve it.

Hi
Not had a problem on the Pantiger, but on an early HL tiger, it did the same. I took the rear idlers off and fitted a small washer behind it (about 0.6mm thick) it bought the idler in line with the tracks better and also greatly reduced the "wobble" in the idler, had no problem since.

I did exactly what you do. I even use a pair of Mato's metal idlers with ball bearing. but things never improved.hawkeye3guns wrote:Hi

Re: How do I open these things?
HL have been selling them since day 1, no one knows why the most inaccurate tank in their range is the most popular??
Someone in our club has one, and I have to say that the paint job on it is absolutely amazing.

Lets hear it for the Pantiger. I wouldn't swop mine for a handful of magic beans. Never had any trouble running mine.
