The Markets are rallying, first time in 8 years :D The Economy will pick up and America will recover from the lost (yup I said lost) 8 years. America will have to reverse 15 Trillion "with a T" dollars of debt created, of which 2 Trillion no one can determine where it went... We will heal the scars with our allies that we swore to stand beside so many years ago..

I am a well educated person, an engineer by trade so I analyze everything, ad nauseum at times it would seem, long before I make a decision.. I was also Military, not the normal type (enough said) so I look at things through a different lens. I have been on every continent (not just to switch planes) and interacted with the local populations to great extent. I have with my own eyes have seen the results of dictators, the degrees of Socialism, Communism, Democracies of different names. I am a "Gun toting" good ole boy from Texas, live by a very strict code. I do believe your word is your bond and speaking your mind is very important. Trump speaks his mind though not very eloquently but still says what's on his mind, this is good. People and Nations leaders should never have to guess what another Leader is thinking. Politicians even when asked a simple yes or no answer seem to dodge the question and never answer anything, Trump is refreshing this way.

In short, I think Mr. trump is what we need right now, someone who does believe in his word, someone who does speak his mind, The People know what they are getting. Unlike Ms. Hilary, we knew she would strip our rights, to what extent was anyone's guess. Mr. Obama declared that his Presidency would be the most transparent in history, was totally opposite. Not a Single Republican was allowed behind closed door to vote for that abomination of healthcare, that should have been an open door vote for all Americans to see...

Mark my words here, You will see great things to come, The Presidential cabinet will consist of very experienced people, not people who gave money, or bartered for favors. Imagine, he is placing 6 yup six economists on the problem of the economy, unlike now we have a person in charge who knows nothing.. He will appoint a Physician in charge of the HHS (Health service) unlike now we have an appointee (Silvia Mathews, prior was Kathleen Sebelius)who has 0 zero healthcare experience.. He will appoint supreme court justices who believe in upholding the constitution, in Contrast Obama appointed Ms. Sonia Sotomayor, who believes that the justices should make law from the bench (That is the job of the Senate)

Yes, things are looking real good, especially when you look paste what the media is throwing out there, you actually "vet" who is appointed and why etc etc.

Good afternoon,
I too am older, white, own my own land, believe in personal firearm ownership as protected by the 2nd Amendment ( not a member of that Shill group, the NRA ) am well educated and a registered Republican. With all that, I know that the current sitting President was handed a heaping plate of fresh poop upon entering the White House. Contrary to 8 years of my own Party saying and doing everything possible to make him fail, he at least managed to put a bow upon the plate and make it smell better. It really bothered me walking into Gun Shops full of seemingly reasonable individuals and finding cutouts of the man with a bullseye on them, clown noses affixed, etc. The Office of the POTUS deserves more respect and takes a certain kind of person, steeled to the responsibility, to accept it's challenges. I respect the Office. I do not like nor respect Donald Trump and do not think that he will be up to the challenges of being the President. Whatever America needs, he is not it ( nor was Hillary Clinton ) I think that we need to work together to solve problems, not expect isolationism, partisanship and bluster to pave the path. There is an entire world out there affected by this election, not just America. I expect a lot of the 'Base' who voted for him to be unpleasantly surprised in the coming days, weeks and months. I hope it does not devolve into the worst possible scenarios. Myself, I'm circling the wagons and me and mine will do our best to ride out what is coming. Good luck and God Bless us all.
regards,
Painless

I completely agree with you Painless, only difference is I'm registered Independent.

I think there's too many chickens and they're all heading home at once.

I've got zero interest in watching it unfold, I'd rather be at the bench.
What, me worry?

Are you familiar with the term "dead cat bounce"? I'm just a simple country boy from the other side of the world and even I can see Trump is a carpetbagging snake oil salesman. Anyone who seriously believes he will or even can deliver on his election promises is in for some disappointing years. Make America Great Again is just a four word slogan on a hat, it means nothing, it wont fix anything and neither will The Donald.

There will be some big winners in America from this election result but unless your last name is Trump it probably won't be you.

Sadly, 'Democratic' processes are mostly window dressing. Irrespective of election results found the world, behind the scenes a global elite comprising Multinationals, Corporations, Bankers and Hedge Funds pull the stings of politicians, and ours too. They transcend national borders, interests and values. All the rest is 'smoke and mirrors'. Except for oil. Oil makes the Modern World go round, and greases the bearings of corporations more than 'Vapourware' or money. Without it, the world is toast as we know it.
Unfortunately for the West, the largest oil reserves are situated under Saudi Arabia (world's greatest human rights abuser..perhaps?), and the Gulf States. Only when the West stops doing the Saudi's bidding..ignobly Kissing ass.. and ceases to tolerate the intolerable, can some sort of balance be restored. But, while we have the self-destructive illness of 'political correctness', and an influx of what I call 'Cultural Cuckoos' bent on destroying democracy from within, that's never going to happen.
I'm not a fan of Trump, but at least he spoke out against the self-negating aspects of the 'PC' culture. Maybe he can pull his own strings; I doubt it, though. :problem: He may even be allowed to write his own epitaph. Then maybe they'll even name a tank after him..

Hi Most politicians are lying scum bags not worth saving if a building is on fire. Hope Trump does keep one promise to look after the Veterans if he does this hes worth having. Like most of you have said control is with the big company's they can make life very hard if they decide to take there bat and ball home. If he can start to re-build the states (sounds like a new deal policy) this could work better to pay a man wages to build something than have to give him money to do nothing.

well, looks like someone just follows the Clinton News Network (CNN, or MSNBC) C'mon, do your homework... I did and I also think, therefore I am! Deadcat bounce---funny.. The Markets are still up and in record highs too. So, your telling me he is bad, yet the people (Majority) voted for him, they must have seen the truth, and all the markets of the world are up, you must be smarter than all of those millions of people shoring up the markets and all of us. No Sir, I will keep analyzing and depend on my education and freedom of thought to determine where the world is headed, I will not let a few News organizations tell me how to think.

I will of course concede that Mr. Trump is not perfect, I do not want a "Perfect" politician in office running my Country, and that Sir is the flaw in people's mentality, a politician knows nothing of the will of the people nor do they have any skills managing anything, they just say what people want to hear and only do for the people that which furthers their ends. Mr. Trump is a businessman, he has managed companies all his life, he also knows as a businessman that to be successful you cannot do it alone so he is already filling his cabinet with "Skilled" and experienced people, yes believe it. Do your research, I do constantly, I am a businessman too, I have Patents in 7 countries and know how to build a company, this is what a country needs to be successful.
Continue to be negative, to accept your politicians in office, continue to complain... As the saying goes, you can complain and make no difference, that is what complainers do, people who are driven to succeed do something about it!

I will close with this, if your going to complain about a candidate, about your country etc. at least keep and open mind and look at both sides of the "street" as they say. If you come to me without doing your homework, well I am going to crush you with facts.

Cheers!
Clinton won the popular vote, as Gore before her. But we ended up with Bush/Trump....(well you've ended up with)

I have been reading up about how the Electoral college works. It was interesting. For example, despite everything in the media, Donald Trump has not actually been elected president. The states have selected the Electors not the President. The actual voting by the Electors take place in December. Even more interesting is that the Electors are not actually bound to vote according to the result in the State voting. In theory, therefore, Clinton could still be elected. To say this is highly unlikely is an understatement, but nevertheless, it could happen.

Doc,
I just don't think that 'crushing anyone with facts', paraphrasing your earlier text, is going to contribute over all to any general discussion. There are tons of news outlets forums out there to continue this on with anyone who wants to do so. You, me and every other poster on this thread has had their opinions and thoughts laid out. Time to move on.
