However the videos I've seen seem to show the asp sound engine is pretty basic compared to the ibu3, el mod, benedini and Clark tk60. It is fairly cheap but when you factor vat at 20% customs handling charge and shipping it's way more than an ibu 3 for a lower quality board.
20% Vat and customs? Well, you might not know that Kevin at rc tanks australia does not declare the real value of the parcel and he declares it as a gift. It even comes with a birthday paper, so you wont pay not even a penny of vats of customs. You only need to say that is a gift from your dear friend in australia just in case customs stops the parcel, and It wont happen because it is too small.

Shipping charges? I paid 14 aussie dollars for 2 boards with registered shipping. How much is that, 8 Pounds? I cant say that is expensive. I think it took less than two weeks to arrive from australia to europe.

About the speaking enclosures, well, for example I use the original tamiya speakers in my tanks, so the sound really is a BIG differnece. Also the sounds in the IBU3 are 64 mb maximum In my sherman I have about 800mb of sounds, so go a compare the quality and cuantity, and you can always make your own customs sounds if you dont like the stock ones.

And a lower quality board? LOL, please tell me why it is a low quality board.

Just in case: I sold all my IBUS after getting the ASPs.

You need a smartieparts board http://www.smartieparts.com or to do a superfine soldering.

There are two boards, one cheap for just flashing new firmware and another one more expensive that adds tons of new features. I recommend you the second one.

You are welcome. I edited my previous message because I wrote the link wrong, but I guess you found my mistake.

Again, IMHO the expensive board worths the money. You can add tons of new features to your 9x. For example I replaced all the switches for a 3 position ones and a potentiometer with a 6 positions switch. The board alsoo comes with a speaker so your radio will have sounds.

If you got your radio from rcta im pretty sure it comes with the er9x software already flashed. It might be outdated but you cant imagine how superior to the stock radio firmware is.

About the receivers you can get the flysky th9xb in aliexpress for about 8 eur free shipping. They are 100? compatible with your turnigy radio. I use both receivers (turnigy and flysky) and the only difference is te sticker over it.

Thanks for all the great responses, I'm still between the IBU3 and ASP currently but will spend a little more time on this

I'm considering the radiolink at10 radio to go with my new electronics.

Any recommendations on radios is also welcome :haha:

I have a TBS set up and the sound is fantastic but in talking to Maxmeker who also has a TBS he has indicated the IBU3 is really now on par sound wise...and the IBU3 has a lot of other functions and is constantly getting improved.

If you get the Asp you also can get the turnigy 9xr pro, that comes already with the er9x and a usb interface so you can update the firmware very easily and wont need another extra boards. The other radio with 10 channels is not bad, but I would stick with er9x.

maxmekker, I certainly have, the asp board certainly does seem very appealing, however the IBU3 is catching my eye a little more, so I'm thinking maybe a IBU3 + 9x with tanker software????? Will sit on it for a few days

Thanks to everyone who gave advice, it was all very much appreciated, so glad I joined this awsome community.
