Thanka again doc, I've never had them side by side. Yep 4 sound a nice even number so I guess I should, and well - there were a lot of them, and so many different variations! Mud it is then... :)

Absolutely, only right and proper to have at least one U.S. Sherman in the collection - and it's a great reason to read up a little more. To be honest I was pretty much just going to paint it and find some nice new decals, as I really like the no-nonsense of the wide tracked 105 Sherman. It also has a really nice tank commander using his radio. I may even end up with two Americans as I've a mato turret (t23?) which I've just finished lowering as I've seen done on here. I'll have to buy some more bits... :)

Hi Keith.
Wads here.
Great Sherman, excellent job, don't listen to the boys who want you to throw mud at it it looks fine as is.
the garden pics show it off very well.
As I live in a flat with no garden carpet is my only background.
carry on as normal.
Cheers John Wadsworth.

Thanks again all, most appreciate the kind comments. I am lucky to have the garden and I think the sunshine on that day was somewhat forgiving to my painting skills! I've added the stowage again and I admit that I do quite like it looking clean - it's meant to be the Guards armoured after all. Also I go to work each day just around the corner from where the real ones were assembled, so like to think of it as new off the line in Nottingham, even though this one came from a shed near Loughborough! I've never actually seen a real Sherman firefly as far as I can think, so I can overlook most of my dodgy inaccuracies - for now at least... Mind you, a proper closed-in rear storage bin and turret blanket box might look ok. Time for more plasticard...

Hi Keith, very nice collection building up already! The great thing about this site is that you are in the company of lots of Sherman (and other tank) experts so advice and guidance is always on hand, whether historical, technical, or for scale modelling/painting, etc. I just love the look of any Sherman, it's so distinctive and iconic.
