Heng Long Tiger 1 Build

Post by kj68 »

Hi just starting to fix bits on my Tiger 1 completed adding transmission reinforcement plates and I have finished the three lifting points. During next week I will be adding the shackles and relocating the antenna to its proper position. Steady away as its all new to me. Here are some pics of my progress so far.

Good start. It's hard to tell fully from the second pic, but is your cupola forward vision slit lined up facing forward ?
It looks a bit looking left ?
If it is in the right spot, your hatch hinge will be in the 20 to 8 on a clock with the slit facing forward.

Hi Herman thanks for pointing it out as sometimes our eyes play tricks on us. It's just off a touch but I can sort it as it's not glued down yet. I am getting there one step at a time. Waiting for few more items to come then I can do a bit more. ?

Ahh, the never ending "bits for my Tiger" routine !!!
There sure are lots of fruity bits a man can indulge himself in for these things.

Just remember that there is no wrong way to build YOUR tank. ;) Tigers can be a HUGE pain in the butt because of soooo many different detail bits you can add but in the end if you're happy with it then that's all the matters.

Well done a little more today I added my new shackles with Hex bolts. Looks really nice. Next to add will be the metal sight slits on the turret once they arrive from Europe.

Kevin you mentioned earlier that you are not looking forward to opening up your Tiger,
There is an answer and it is the "TAIGEN" metal hull which comes with a quick release that means that one move of a lever separate's the hull from the body.
Dave Forgebear has them for sale.
You can pay as little as £50 to over £120 depending on the specification. Which means At £50 you get a metal hull with Torsion bar suspension, Quick release and the plastic floor to mount all the electrics.
At the other end of the range you also get Metal wheels, metal tracks, metal sprockets, metal idlers, and a decent gearbox,
The metal hull which is actually cased in ABS adds much greater rigidity and it is completely compatible with the HENG LONG body.
It is a modification that I always carry out to every Tiger 1 I buy as do a lot of other people on the Forum.
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Hi Shaun the next time I come to build another Tiger 1 I will be purchasing a metal hull. But I think with this being my first ever build I will gain confidence and knowledge on how these lovely machines go together and operate. I will definitely build another Tiger 1 as these are my favourite tanks with a few variations.
