Got a bit more done, had to undertake some drastic surgery on the citadel as I had to get the angle right to match the crane arm. I totally forgot that I was adding 2.5mm styrene to the shell, which added 5mm across the width, so had to hack it back to get the arm in the right place.

The arm goes up and down, but won't rotate as there is nowhere to mount motors or servo's underneath the base, the dozer blade mechanics will be in the way.

It's just a hundred and one small detail parts from now on. I am working from photo's so if anything isn't bang on to scale, hands up, I am guilty as charged.

If you mounted the big cog to the base (see the pic) and put in a 90 degree drive or even a worm gear you could relocate the motor away from the confined space?

I understand what you are suggesting, and I pondered the idea but after the problems I had with the Kodiak and the lift arm due to weight etc I decided that it was just not worth the bother. The super expensive Berg models that are available all use super expensive hydraulics to get around the problems. Bearing in mind that it will be sat on a shelf 99% of the year, and only the dozer blade given any real use, it just makes economic sense to leave it as a non-moving arm. The base is all nicely detailed with hex bolts etc, so it looks the part.

It's one I had on my mind to do was the Canadian berg panzer 3 the up armour version ... I will watch you build with great interest and may tap u for the basic jib turn table and lift arm ..

Go on admit it, you have a bar armour fetish don't you! lol

The arm is made from styrene, I just printed the inner angle stub at 85 degrees to match the citidel. Let me know when you want the parts.

I do have a kinky perv for bar armour now I've cracked how to make it and I have another build first to finish ..and then I have to build battlestar ...with more bar armour ...and at somepint later I will sit and go for the Canadian bp3
on and this is ..battlestar I have everything I need to build this ...except ..time ..

That was one awkward hatch to do, but it does open, lol. The crew member is 'armless enough, but I need to resculpt him later to reposition the arms and hands.

This one spends 90% of its time sat on the shelf while I am busy doing other things, ultra slow progress, and I sometimes wonder if it will ever get finished!

The dozer blade (though not really a dozer blade, it's a ground anchor for pulling tanks out of ditches etc) and operating arms were a pain, but it goes up and down, though not hooked up to the motor yet. There are a million and one parts on the rear deck, and I have a feeling that I won't get back into it properly until next winter.

These Arv builds are properly the most complicated that any tank modeller will ever attempt
just purley Down to the amount of detail parts that are scattered on the tanks

There always very time consuming builds ..and the secret is reserve and patients ..and never rush it
once again here above is another superb build going on ..

I love it and will in time do my self a Leo Arv ...but not any time soon !
